Job Summary

Project Manager with QA Background to support an insurance organization in the western Chicago suburbs. This is a 4-month contract engagement through year-end 2026, with the potential for extension into and/or through 2027 based on performance and business needs. Candidates who can support a hybrid schedule of approximately two days per week onsite are preferred.

The role will lead the delivery of a project focused on upgrading and enhancing data reporting capabilities. The environment uses Excel as an interface to SQL-based relational databases, requiring someone who can effectively coordinate development activities while also understanding the testing required to validate the resulting changes. The Project Manager will drive project planning, execution, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication, while also providing hands-on QA support as development progresses. Over time, the role is expected to help shift portions of functional user acceptance testing from the business to IT.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead planning and delivery of a data reporting enhancement project from development through implementation
- Coordinate development resources, schedules, dependencies, issues, and project deliverables to keep work on track
- Partner with technical teams and business stakeholders to clarify project objectives, manage expectations, and communicate progress
- Track risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions and proactively drive resolution
- Develop and execute functional test scenarios to validate application and reporting changes
- Perform data validation testing using SQL queries to confirm data accuracy and expected results
- Use Excel to review, manipulate, and validate reporting outputs and test results
- Help establish and execute a more structured IT-led QA/UAT process, reducing the testing burden currently placed on business users
- Document test results, defects, and resolutions and communicate issues to development and project stakeholders
- Support additional project management and QA activities as needed

Required Skills & Experience
\n
- \n
- 5+ years of experience in IT Project Management, with meaningful prior hands-on QA/testing experience
- Proven ability to lead technology projects through planning, development, testing, and implementation
- Hands-on experience with functional software testing and data validation testing
- Ability to write SQL queries and work with relational databases to validate data and application results
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including using spreadsheets to review and validate data
- Strong organization, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to understand technical concepts and work effectively with developers, QA resources, business users, and IT leadership
- Ability to balance project delivery responsibilities with hands-on testing activities when needed
- Experience in insurance or a similar enterprise environment preferred
