Compensation: $28.00/hr. - $38.00/hr. Based on Experience

We are seeking a Data Center IT Technician I to provide frontline support for servers, network infrastructure, cabling systems, and operational technology equipment. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a desire to grow their career in a rapidly expanding data center environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Center IT Technician I, you will support the daily operation and maintenance of critical IT infrastructure by:

  • Installing and Supporting Equipment: Rack, cable, label, configure, and replace approved IT and network equipment.
  • Providing Technical Support: Deliver Tier 1 support for multiple networks.
  • Troubleshooting Infrastructure Issues: Diagnose and resolve hardware, connectivity, switch port, copper, and fiber cabling issues.
  • Supporting Network Operations: Perform approved switch-port and VLAN changes following established procedures.
  • Assisting with Infrastructure Projects: Partner with Corporate IT on network, server, firewall, and infrastructure upgrades and maintenance activities.
  • Maintaining Hardware and Systems: Support server hardware repairs, equipment upgrades, backup processes, and disaster recovery activities.
  • Supporting Operational Technology: Assist with physical and connectivity support for HMI and OT equipment.
  • Managing Documentation: Maintain inventories, asset records, cable documentation, rack layouts, and maintenance logs.
  • Supporting Outages and Maintenance Windows: Gather diagnostic information and assist senior technical resources during planned and unplanned events.
  • Escalating Critical Issues: Promptly escalate security-sensitive, undocumented, or production-impacting issues to appropriate technical teams.

What We Are Looking For

Core Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Foundational knowledge of computer hardware, TCP/IP networking, Ethernet, switching, VLANs, copper cabling, and fiber infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience installing, supporting, or troubleshooting IT and network equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow established technical procedures and work effectively with remote support teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to safely work independently within assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a data center environment requiring standing, walking, sitting, and extended periods of focus on technical systems.

Preferred (Plus, but not Required):

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, or a related field.
  • Relevant technical certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting enterprise server, network, or data center infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with HMI, OT, or industrial control system environments.
  • Experience working in mission-critical facilities, data centers, manufacturing environments, or large-scale infrastructure operations.
