The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports an automotive manufacturing facility by ensuring all building systems and equipment operate safely and reliably. Working as part of a small team, this role performs both preventive and reactive maintenance on electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems to keep the facility up and running.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on facility equipment and systems to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
  • Respond to and resolve reactive maintenance issues across the facility in a timely and safe manner.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and construction-related issues within a manufacturing environment.
  • Work with electrical systems ranging from high voltage (up to 15,000V) to low voltage (around 120V), following all safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Install, repair, and maintain conduit runs in accordance with NEC codes and fire alarm codes.
  • Support and maintain fire alarm systems and related facility safety equipment.
  • Perform plumbing-related maintenance and repairs as needed within the facility.
  • Maintain and service HVAC units, including chillers and exhaust fans, to ensure proper operation and comfort levels.
  • Assist with predictive maintenance activities, including inspections and system checks to identify potential issues before failures occur.
  • Collaborate with a team of 3–4 technicians to prioritize work orders and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections accurately and consistently.
  • Participate in training across all three shifts during the first year to gain comprehensive knowledge of facility operations.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards while working in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to facility reliability and equipment performance.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience performing electrical work within a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience working with high voltage electrical systems up to 15,000V and low voltage systems down to 120V.
  • 2+ years of experience working with HVAC units, specifically chillers and exhaust fans.
  • 1+ year of experience performing plumbing-related work.
  • 3+ years of experience running electrical conduit and applying NEC codes and fire alarm codes.
  • Journeyman-level certification or equivalent experience in electrical or facilities maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and construction disciplines.
  • Ability to perform both preventive and reactive maintenance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems and associated safety requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team of 3–4 technicians and communicate clearly about maintenance needs and outcomes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with predictive maintenance systems, including infrared (IR) scanning.
  • Experience performing vibration analysis on equipment to identify early signs of mechanical issues.
  • Hands-on experience working with electrical systems in the 5,000–15,000V range.
  • Familiarity with automotive manufacturing environments and related facility systems.
  • Comfort working on 2nd or 3rd shift and rotating through all shifts during the training period.

Work Environment

The role is based in an automotive manufacturing facility that is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary throughout the year. Work may occasionally take place outdoors, requiring technicians to operate in various weather conditions depending on the maintenance issues at hand. This position ultimately works on either 2nd or 3rd shift after a first-year training rotation across all three shifts: 1st shift runs from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 2nd shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, and 3rd shift from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The environment is industrial, hands-on, and focused on safety while maintaining continuous production operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marysville, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $43.00/hr.
