Job Title: Maintenance Technician – 1st Shift
Job Description

As a 1st shift Maintenance Technician, you perform hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on food packaging machinery and building systems. You play a key role in keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently by handling preventive maintenance, HVAC repairs, and mechanical diagnostics in a GMP environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform HVAC-related repairs and general building maintenance, including tasks such as replacing bulbs and maintaining facility systems.
- Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot food packaging machinery, including conveyors, pumps, motors, boilers, cappers, and labelers.
- Complete weekly preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on production and facility equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Use mechanical and electrical prints to identify issues, plan repairs, and verify proper equipment operation.
- Apply mechanical aptitude to independently identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective solutions.
- Conduct minor welding on stainless steel and mild steel when needed, supporting equipment repair and fabrication (welding experience is preferred but not required).
- Work safely and efficiently in a GMP production environment, following all facility procedures and maintenance best practices.
- Lift and move heavy parts and equipment, including items weighing 75 pounds or more, as part of maintenance and repair activities.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to coordinate repairs, reduce downtime, and support continuous improvement.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and PM work to ensure accurate records and support ongoing reliability efforts.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Minimum 3 years of experience troubleshooting conveyors, pumps, and food packaging machinery.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to independently diagnose and repair equipment issues.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial equipment and facility systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical prints and schematics.
- HVAC repair and general building maintenance skills.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and basic electrical issues on production machinery.
- Capability to lift 75 pounds or more safely as part of daily job duties.
- Solid math skills to support measurements, calculations, and technical work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environment.
- Experience with food packaging equipment such as conveyors, pumps, motors, boilers, cappers, and labelers.
- Exposure to welding on stainless and mild steel; minor welding capability is preferred but not strictly required.
- Knowledge of industrial troubleshooting techniques for mechanical and HVAC systems.
- Comfort working independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and equipment reliability.

Work Environment
You work in a GMP-compliant manufacturing facility focused on food packaging operations. The role is on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with occasional overtime of around 5 hours as needed. The environment involves regular interaction with industrial equipment such as conveyors, pumps, motors, boilers, cappers, and labelers, as well as HVAC and building systems. You perform hands-on mechanical work that can require lifting items weighing 75 pounds or more and adhering to facility cleanliness and safety standards typical of GMP operations.

This is a Permanent position based out of Oconomowoc, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr.
