Associate Project Manager (APM) – Level I

Chandler, Arizona

Position Summary

Durus Industrial is seeking an Associate Project Manager (APM) – Level I to support our Construction Managers and project teams across industrial, mining, energy, and infrastructure projects throughout the Southwest.

This is an early-career project support role focused on documentation, tracking, coordination, and project administration within a Construction Manager-led organization. The APM will assist with project controls, document management, reporting, procurement tracking, and communication between the office and field teams.

This position is intended for individuals seeking to build a long-term career in construction management while gaining exposure to project execution, cost tracking, scheduling, procurement, and field operations.

The position will be based in our Chandler, Arizona office; however, travel may be required to support project site visits, project turnover meetings, and active projects throughout Arizona and neighboring states.

Reporting Structure

Reports To: General Manager

Supports: Construction Managers across active projects

Primary Responsibilities

Project Administration

  • Maintain project files and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track and distribute RFIs, submittals, drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Assist with meeting minutes, action item logs, and project correspondence.
  • Support project startup, turnover, and closeout activities.

Project Controls Support

  • Support Construction Managers by tracking project data including quantities, labor hours, RFIs, submittals, and material status.
  • Assist with maintaining project logs and reporting tools.
  • Support schedule updates by collecting and organizing project information.
  • Assist with budget tracking and cost reporting activities.
  • Track potential change orders and support documentation development.

Procurement & Material Tracking

  • Assist with purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and vendor communication.
  • Track material procurement and delivery status.
  • Maintain procurement logs and material tracking reports.
  • Coordinate documentation related to equipment and material deliveries.

Communication & Coordination

  • Coordinate information flow between office personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams.
  • Support Construction Managers with project reporting requirements.
  • Assist with compiling information for client reports and project meetings.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation for active projects.

Role Boundaries

The Associate Project Manager does not:

  • Direct field work or construction sequencing.
  • Supervise Superintendents, Foremen, or craft personnel.
  • Own project schedule performance or project cost outcomes.
  • Negotiate contracts, subcontracts, or change orders.
  • Direct safety, quality, or field execution activities.

Field execution, safety, schedule performance, and financial outcomes remain the responsibility of the Construction Manager.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of construction, industrial, engineering, project coordination, or related experience preferred.
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational and document management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with HCSS, Sage Intacct, Bluebeam, or similar construction software is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
