Senior Technical Project Manager
Job Description
Technical Project / Program Manager – Client Engagement (CRM, Salesforce & Mobile)\n
\nLocation: New York, NY (Hybrid: onsite 3 days/week)\n
\nType: 12- 18 month contract\n
\n
\nAbout the Role\n
\nGotham Technology Group is seeking a Senior Project / Program Manager for a global retail client. You will lead the most critical cross-functional initiatives in the Client Engagement domain: projects and multi-stream programs within the Product Portfolio. You will own each initiative from start to finish, drive progress, align teams, manage dependencies, etc.\n
\nYou will also join align with the PMO existing framework, embedded in the Client Engagement domain. Working with the Agile Coach, you will give leadership a clear, current view of the product portfolio, its risks, and its outcomes.\n
\n
\nWhat You’ll Do\n
\nProject & Program Leadership • Own critical projects and programs end to end: define scope, objectives, plans, milestones, and success criteria, then drive delivery to completion. • Launch initiatives, follow up with stakeholders, remove blockers, and maintain momentum. • Coordinate multiple workstreams, managing dependencies, sequencing, and integration points. • Identify and mitigate risks early, manage issues, and escalate in a structured, timely way. • Align business, product, engineering, IT, data, vendors, and system integrators around shared priorities. • Work within the existing Agile delivery model (Scrum, Agile at Scale, PI Planning) and align project governance with team cadences. The Agile Coach facilitates ceremonies; this role does not.\n
\nPortfolio Management • Track and maintain the domain portfolio with the Agile Coach, covering status, priorities, capacity, dependencies, and value delivered. • Prepare and lead regular portfolio reviews with domain leadership. • Produce concise executive reporting on progress, key decisions, risks, and escalations.\n
\nPMO Practice Contribution • Apply existing PMO playbooks, methods, and best practices. • Build and maintain project and portfolio toolkits, including templates, dashboards, and governance artifacts. • Share lessons learned and contribute to the project management community of practice.\n
\nKey Deliverables • Project and program plans covering scope, roadmap, milestones, workstreams, dependencies, and resourcing • RAID logs with clear ownership and escalation paths • Status updates and executive summaries • Consolidated Client Engagement portfolio view • Portfolio review materials, facilitation, and follow-up • New or improved PMO templates and artifacts\n
\n
\nWhat You Bring\n
\nRequired: • 8+ years of project and program management experience, including leading complex, cross-functional programs in a technology-driven environment • Hands-on understanding of how software is built and run • Proven delivery of projects involving CRM platforms, especially Salesforce, and internal mobile applications • Practical Agile experience (Scrum, SAFe or a similar scaled framework, PI Planning) combined with structured project governance • Experience with portfolio tracking, portfolio reviews, and executive-level reporting \n
\n
\nTechnical Landscape: Not a developer, but you should be able to follow technical discussions, challenge estimates, and anticipate risk across: • Salesforce: Service, Sales, and Marketing Clouds; configuration vs. customization; release and environment management • Internal iOS apps: app lifecycle, versioning, internal distribution, device deployment, in-store apps • APIs & integration: REST APIs, middleware, integration patterns, cross-platform data flows and dependencies • SaaS platforms: vendor roadmaps, configuration limits, upgrade cycles, vendor and partner management • Custom development: SDLC, backlog management, environments, CI/CD, testing and QA, production releases • Tooling: Jira, Confluence (or equivalent), portfolio and reporting tools, dashboards\n
\nPreferred: • Retail, luxury, or consumer brand experience\n
\n
\nWho Thrives Here • Natural leader and owner: you take full accountability and lead without direct authority. • Proactive: you anticipate rather than react and follow up relentlessly. • Technically credible: you’re comfortable with engineers, architects, and vendors, and you translate technical complexity into business impact. • Structured and pragmatic: you scale governance to what each initiative needs. • Executive communicator: you are clear and confident with senior leadership, especially on risks and trade-offs.
