Fire Alarm & Security Service Technician

• Full-Time | On-Site and Field-Based
• Starting at $30/hour, with higher pay based on experience
• Monday–Friday | 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. | No weekend shifts

Do you enjoy figuring out how equipment works, solving technical problems, and helping customers? Cunningham Security is hiring a technician in Wakefield to inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm and security systems.

In this role, you’ll work independently at customer locations while staying connected with a supportive service team. Your attention to detail will help identify equipment concerns, keep maintenance on track, and give customers clear information about their systems.

What the position involves

• Perform scheduled inspections and functional testing of fire alarm and security equipment.

• Check alarm panels, smoke detectors, motion sensors, and associated devices.

• Complete preventive maintenance, including battery replacements.

• Investigate minor operating issues and flag concerns requiring additional attention.

• Record inspection results and service activity using Sedona and BuildingReports.

• Keep digital reports complete, accurate, and organized.

• Communicate professionally with customers during service visits.

• Work with internal service and support teams to coordinate next steps.

• Follow established inspection procedures carefully and consistently.

Experience and skills

Previous work in fire alarms, security systems, low-voltage technology, or electrical service is preferred. We also welcome mechanically inclined candidates who are interested in learning the industry.

Preferred qualifications include:

• High school diploma or GED.

• NICET or IPSI certification, or willingness to obtain industry credentials.

• Practical troubleshooting skills and strong attention to detail.

• Ability to manage field assignments independently.

• Clear communication and dependable customer service.

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

• Ability to pass a background check.
