Job Description
Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician II role is a hands-on industrial maintenance position supporting a manufacturing facility that operates CNC machines, production equipment, conveyors, pumps, and various shop equipment. You will perform both emergency repairs and preventative maintenance while troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. This position suits someone who can independently diagnose machine problems, complete repairs efficiently, and contribute to improving equipment reliability in a modernizing maintenance department.
Responsibilities
- Perform emergency repairs and preventative maintenance on CNC machines, production equipment, conveyors, pumps, and other industrial machinery.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems to keep production equipment running safely and efficiently.
- Work with industrial electrical components, including motors, relays, contactors, breakers, transformers, and electrical circuits.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in manufacturing processes.
- Support CNC lathes, mills, and other CNC manufacturing equipment by diagnosing issues and performing corrective maintenance.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, machine drawings, and related technical documentation to guide troubleshooting and repairs.
- Follow and support preventative maintenance schedules, including inspections, adjustments, and component replacement.
- Document maintenance activities accurately, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future actions.
- Assist with equipment reliability improvements by identifying recurring issues and proposing long-term solutions.
- Work closely with the maintenance team and production personnel to reduce equipment downtime and improve overall equipment performance.
- Participate in machine installations, upgrades, and modifications as needed.
- Perform conveyor maintenance, pump repair, and general machine repair as required.
- Support robotics, PLC troubleshooting, and automation-related maintenance tasks where applicable.
- Contribute to building stronger maintenance systems and processes under evolving departmental leadership.
- Lift up to 35 lbs, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods as part of daily tasks
Work Environment
The work environment is a manufacturing machine shop that is not temperature controlled, so temperatures will vary with the seasons. Technicians work around a mix of CNC equipment, manual machines, automated production equipment, conveyors, pumps, and other industrial machinery. The maintenance department currently resembles a traditional machine shop or automotive maintenance environment and is functional but undergoing significant improvements under new leadership, creating an opportunity to be part of positive change and stronger maintenance practices. The culture is friendly, team-oriented, and welcoming; employees collaborate closely, support one another, and maintain a positive atmosphere. Music is often playing in the background, contributing to a close-knit environment that welcomes new team members. The role is typically on a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. shift, with occasional earlier start times that will not be before 6:00 a.m.
