As a Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in system design, integration, and lifecycle support for Miltope’s advanced products. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced defense-industry environment, blending technical depth with practical engineering discipline.

What YOU will do:

System Design & Integration

  • Develop and maintain system architectures, requirements, and interface specifications.
  • Develop, manage, and trace customer, system, subsystem, and verification requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support and lead system-level design, integration, and validation of rugged computing, communications, and embedded electronics solutions.
  • Support trade studies, technical reviews, and risk assessments to ensure robust, compliant designs.
  • Support Business Development and Program Management with internal and external technical discussions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, manufacturing, quality) to deliver integrated solutions.

Engineering Execution & Lifecycle Support

  • Participate in engineering activities across concept, prototype, qualification, production, sustainment, and end-of-life cycles.
  • Support configuration management, documentation release, BOMs, and technical data packages.
  • Assist in root-cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective actions for fielded systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement, cost-reduction, and reliability initiatives.

Manufacturing & Operations Partnership

  • Work closely with Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth transition from design to production.
  • Support DFM/DFA, testability, and maintainability throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Validate manufacturing documentation and support production troubleshooting.

Quality, Compliance & Security

  • Support adherence to AS9100D/ISO 9001, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, ITAR, DFARS/NIST 800-171, cybersecurity, and SSA compliance requirements.
  • Participate in qualification readiness reviews, hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Support disciplined configuration control across ERP and PLM systems.

Customer Engagement & Technical Support

  • Engage with customers to understand mission needs, resolve engineering challenges, and support technical solutions.
  • Assist in proposal development, SOWs, estimates, and compliance matrices.
  • Represent Miltope in technical discussions, customer reviews, and industry engagements.

Organizational Leadership & Culture

  • Contribute to a high-performance engineering team, promoting clear communication, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Contribute to a culture of integrity, disciplined execution, customer focus, and technical rigor.

What YOU Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 8-15 years of engineering experience within defense, aerospace, rugged electronics, mission-systems, or similar complex hardware environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or significantly contribute to system architecture, design reviews, technical problem solving, and customer interaction.
  • Experience with engineering planning, lifecycle management, configuration control, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Strong knowledge of MIL-STDs, AS9100D/ISO 9001, ITAR/export compliance, cybersecurity requirements, and government-contracting technical obligations.
  • Experience with ERP/PLM systems (BOMs, drawings, revision control, ECNs).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Technology Management, or related discipline.
  • Prior experience as Systems Engineer, Project Engineer, or comparable role.
  • Experience in rugged computing, displays, embedded systems, communications, autonomy, robotics, or related technologies.
  • Experience supporting business development, proposals, customer demos, technology partnerships, or investment planning.
  • Demonstrated success improving engineering maturity, manufacturability, organizational capability, and cross-functional execution.
