Job DescriptionDescription:

The Maintenance Technician II oversees the performance, maintenance, and repair of large production machinery and facility systems, with an emphasis on electrical systems and diagnostics. As an experienced-level technician, the role independently maintains equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and sets up machines for production runs

Requirements:

Essential Job Duties and responsibilities:


  • Performs preventive and predictive maintenance inspections and service on machines to maintain reliability and minimize downtime.


  • Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling, as necessary.


  • Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.


  • Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.


  • Installs replacement parts for machines.


  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines, including electrical and mechanical faults such as shorts, overloads, and PLC issues.


  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs wiring, circuits, motors, control panels, and power distribution systems.


  • Reads and interprets electrical diagrams, blueprints, schematics, layouts, and system design documentation.


  • Uses multimeters and basic electrical diagnostic and test equipment proficiently and safely.


  • Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.


  • Prepares reports documenting work performed.


  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.


  • Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.


  • Sets up and adjusts machines for production runs; makes necessary modifications and implements test runs; confers with the production manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.


  • Follows all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and company safety policies at all times.


  • Performs other related duties as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of electrical systems: wiring, circuits, motors, control panels, and power distribution.


  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across electrical and mechanical systems.


  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.


  • Proficiency with multimeters and basic electrical test equipment.


  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.


  • Works well independently and with others.


  • Good communication skills.


  • Organized with attention to detail.


Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.


Education and Experience:


  • Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, required.


  • PLC troubleshooting experience and bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.


Physical Requirements:


  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.


  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.


  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.


  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
