Our client, a recognized leader in the construction and engineering design industry, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis in San Jose, CA. This individual will oversee network and server administration, including firewalls, routers, switches, network protocols and server maintenance. Ideal candidate will have experience implementing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting and developing security-focused procedures. The role also involves providing helpdesk support and mentoring helpdesk staff. This position reports to the Director of Corporate IT. The salary for this role is $120,000 - $130,000 annually plus benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop new network solutions and enhance the performance and efficiency of existing network environments.
• Deploy, configure and support network infrastructure, including routers, core and access switches, servers, Active Directory (AD), DNS and DHCP.
• Administer firewalls, routing and switching environments to support network security and efficiency.
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues and conduct penetration testing to maintain network reliability and performance.
• Coordinate scheduled upgrades and maintain file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems and other network servers.
• Diagnose network faults, outages, connectivity problems and other network-related issues.
• Maintain network security updates in accordance with industry best practices.
• Document network configurations and prepare detailed reports regarding network operations.
• Administer Windows servers, including installation and maintenance of system and application software and keeping patches current.
• Provide primary support for Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS) and virtual server infrastructure.
• Administer Azure, on-premises Active Directory and Office 365 environments.
• Monitor system resources, including CPU utilization, disk usage and response times
• Install, configure and maintain server security software, including antivirus applications.
• Protect networks through firewalls, password controls and other security systems
• Inspect hardware for potential access vulnerabilities.
• Identify system performance issues and automate system administration activities when possible.
• Maintain documentation and logs for server and infrastructure systems.
• Manage corporate backup systems supporting all servers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Corporate IT.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proven experience supporting and maintaining a Windows Server 2022 environment.
• Advanced knowledge of:
o Computer systems architecture
o Azure Active Directory and on-premises Active Directory
o VMware ESX virtual environments
o Fortinet firewall systems and SD-WAN solutions
o TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing protocols and LAN/WAN topologies
• Strong hands-on experience with Veeam backup software, including configuration, monitoring and recovery procedures.
• Demonstrated expertise in computer security, including threat detection, prevention and incident response.
• Familiarity with industry-standard security frameworks and risk management methodologies, such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
• Cisco CCIE certification is a plus but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
• Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
• Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
• Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
