Role Description
\n
The Senior Software Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable software systems that power Sunstone Credit’s AI-driven financing platform. This full-time, hybrid role is based in Manhattan, NY, with the flexibility to work from home Monday and Friday of the week. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing back-end services and APIs, improving system performance, and ensuring reliability and security across the platform. The role involves collaborating closely with product, data, and operations teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, reviewing code, and mentoring other engineers. The Senior Software Engineer will also contribute to architectural decisions, participate in testing and deployment processes, and help continuously improve development practices and tooling.

Qualifications

- At least 5 or more years as a hands-on, practicing Senior Software Engineer
- Strong foundation in Computer Science concepts, such as algorithms, data structures, and systems design.
- Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, including experience with modern languages and frameworks commonly used in back-end systems.
- Hands-on experience with Back-End Web Development, including building and maintaining APIs, microservices, and integration with databases or cloud services.
- Solid understanding and practical use of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles in designing maintainable and extensible codebases.
- Experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams and mentoring peers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Background in fintech, energy, or related industries, and familiarity with data-driven or AI-enabled platforms is a plus.
