Job Description

The Maintenance Facilities Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and improves plant equipment and facility systems with limited supervision. This role focuses on electrical and mechanical systems, including CNC machine tools, automation, and facility infrastructure, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on plant equipment and machines with limited supervision.
  • Troubleshoot, design, retrofit, and repair electrical systems, electronic controls, automation systems, PLCs, communication systems, servo drive systems, and computer-related equipment.
  • Diagnose, repair, and install CNC machine tool mechanical, geometrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Design, install, troubleshoot, and repair precise high‑pressure hydraulic systems.
  • Maintain and service filtration systems to support reliable equipment operation.
  • Manage and control critical component inventory to ensure availability of parts and minimize downtime.
  • Schedule and perform annual, semi‑annual, and quarterly preventive maintenance on machine tools and facility equipment.
  • Act as the Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) focal by collecting, reviewing, and reporting TPM completion sheets throughout the facility.
  • Perform miscellaneous fabrication work as needed to support production requirements.
  • Meet production deadlines by following manufacturing schedules and established procedures.
  • Work closely with support resources and cell leaders to resolve production problems as they arise.
  • Assist the maintenance supervisor in creating task Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with technical staff and management to identify process improvements and plant changes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of action plans to diagnose and address the root cause of equipment issues.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety policies and contributing to risk mitigation management teams.
  • Keep all work areas clean and organized while continually seeking ways to make the manufacturing process more efficient and effective.
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the assembly department through participation in FOD, 5S, TPM, PM, and process improvement programs.
  • Be available for unannounced overtime and remain on call for weekend emergencies.
  • Perform general building and facility maintenance, including painting and repair, using appropriate hand tools.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience in electrical maintenance and repair of plant equipment and facility systems.
  • Proficiency in facilities maintenance, including general facility maintenance and building maintenance tasks.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, design, retrofit, and repair electrical systems and electronic controls.
  • Experience with automation systems, PLCs, communication systems, servo drive systems, and computer-related equipment.
  • Skill in CNC machine tools repair, including mechanical, geometrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency in preventive and preventive maintenance practices for machine tools and facility equipment.
  • Experience performing maintenance repair tasks using hand tools and standard maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to schedule, document, and execute preventive maintenance programs (annual, semi‑annual, and quarterly).
  • Capability to manage critical component inventory and ensure appropriate stock levels.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving equipment and facility issues.
  • Ability to work with support resources and cell leaders to resolve production problems.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to safety policies.
  • Willingness to work unannounced overtime and be on call for weekend emergencies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • HVAC experience with a valid EPA 608 card.
  • General facility maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience designing, installing, and troubleshooting high‑pressure hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with filtration systems maintenance.
  • Experience acting as a TPM focal, including collecting, reviewing, and reporting TPM completion sheets.
  • Participation in FOD, 5S, TPM, PM, and process improvement programs.
  • Experience assisting in the creation of task SOPs and work instructions.
  • Experience collaborating with technical staff and management on process improvements and plant changes.
  • Experience developing and supporting action plans to identify and address root causes of equipment issues.
  • Experience in painting, facility upkeep, and general building repair.
  • Comfort working in an environment where production deadlines and manufacturing schedules must be met.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing environment where most areas are not temperature controlled, so temperatures may vary throughout the year. You will work around production equipment, CNC machine tools, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and facility infrastructure while using standard hand tools and maintenance equipment. The schedule may include unannounced overtime and on‑call coverage for weekend emergencies, reflecting the need to support continuous operations. The position may offer an hourly wage in the 20s to low 30s range for candidates with a strong mechanical background whose experience aligns with the required criteria, including HVAC experience with a valid EPA 608 card and general facility maintenance experience. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with active participation in programs such as FOD, 5S, TPM, PM, and ongoing process improvements.

This is a Permanent position based out of Yakima, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $59800.00 - $98738.00/yr.
