Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Specialist -- Corrugated Converting
Job Description
Job Description Join a Premier Corrugated Operation in Cheswick, PA
Pro Services Workforce Solutions is partnering with a Fortune 500 corrugated packaging manufacturer to hire an experienced electro-mechanical expert for a direct-hire role on third shift. This is a non-union plant known for promoting from within and investing in technician growth.
A Day (Night) in the Life
You arrive to a clean handoff and jump into proactive checks while the line ramps up. When a Flexo Folder Gluer throws a fault, you trace control circuits methodically, isolate the issue at the I/O, and return the EVOL and DRO back to spec. Between calls, you rebuild a gearbox, swap a worn conveyor bearing, and schedule a predictive task for a hydraulic cylinder showing early wear. You collaborate with a tight-knit crew of three to four techs, work independently when needed, and tap vendor support for any PLC program-side needs.
Why You’ll Like It Here
- Openings created by promotions—not turnover.
- Defined path from B/A to AA level with paid on-the-job and TPC training (typically 1–2 years).
- Strong peer support on shift, plus vendor access when you need it.
- Room to be independent—your troubleshooting skills matter.
What You’ll Work On
- Keep corrugated converting equipment running: Flexo Folder Gluers, rotary/flat die cutters, EVOL, DRO, conveyors, and banders.
- Execute reactive, planned, proactive, and predictive maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems.
- Systematically troubleshoot 0–24V control, 110–240V single phase, and 480V three phase power.
- Read electrical prints/schematics; diagnose motors, relays, and related components.
- Diagnose PLC hardware to the card level (Allen‑Bradley and Siemens); coordinate with vendors for program changes.
- Rebuild and service bearings, shafts, seals, gearboxes, and conveyor systems.
- Work on positive displacement, air diaphragm, and centrifugal pumps; rebuild hydraulic cylinders.
- Weld and fabricate using MIG (required) and stick (preferred).
What You Bring
- 5+ years of multicraft industrial maintenance (Maintenance B level or higher).
- Strong electrical foundation: confident with meters; troubleshooting control, single phase, and 480V three phase.
- Ability to read electrical/mechanical prints and schematics.
- PLC hardware troubleshooting experience.
- Hands-on mechanical skills: bearings, shafts, seals, gearboxes, conveyors, and mechanical rebuilds.
- Hydraulic/pneumatic familiarity, including pump work and cylinder rebuilds.
- MIG welding required; MIG + stick preferred.
- Bring your own basic hand tools (specialty tools provided).
- Willing to work third shift Monday–Friday plus most Saturdays.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
Nice to Have
- Intermediate experience (4–7 years) in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or welding disciplines.
- Background with VFDs, servos, I/O modules, sensors, wiring, cabinet troubleshooting, or work above 480V.
- Exposure to HMIs, robots, or CNC systems.
- Corrugated, packaging, or pulp & paper experience.
- Current arc flash certification (you’ll also complete site certification).
- Technical degree/certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance.
Pay and Benefits
- $32.70/hr (B level) to $36.97/hr (A level), plus $0.50/hr shift premium.
- 1.5x pay over 8 hours/day and over 40 hours/week; weekend and holiday premiums.
- Paid OJT and computer-based training with a clear path to AA level.
- Multiple healthcare plan options; retirement plans with additional company contributions.
- 11 paid holidays.
- Up to 1 week vacation in year of hire; 2 full weeks in first full year.
- Company-provided uniforms and laundering.
- Safety shoe and glasses allowance; tool stipend and replacement program.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Third shift, Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts; most Saturdays expected (avg. ~10 hrs OT/week).
- 90-day probationary period with active HR support for benefits.
- On your feet ~90% of the shift; regular lifting/carrying/pulling 21–50 lbs.
- Frequent ladder/scaffold work; bending, squatting, kneeling.
- Walking surfaces may be slippery, narrow, vibrating, unsteady, or moving.
- Required PPE: safety shoes, safety eyewear, hearing protection.
- Non-union facility.
