We are seeking an Operator-in-Training to support daily operations and maintenance activities at a water/wastewater treatment facility. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to build hands-on experience in plant operations, environmental systems, and utility maintenance while working toward industry certifications.

Basic Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid Oregon driver’s license required
• Positive attitude with willingness to learn and undergo training
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively

Key Responsibilities

• Learn wastewater plant operations, maintenance procedures, and daily plant rounds
• Assist with monitoring and controlling water/wastewater treatment processes
• Operate pumps, valves, gates, engines, and generators as directed
• Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels for system performance
• Report operational issues or abnormalities to supervisors
• Maintain daily logs, records, and meter/gauge readings
• Collect water/wastewater samples and perform basic laboratory testing
• Support routine facility maintenance, housekeeping, and custodial tasks
• Assist with sludge, effluent, and process flow operations
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of pumps, engines, and mechanical equipment
• Familiarity with maintenance practices and safe work procedures
• Exposure to biological or chemical principles related to water treatment is a plus
• Interest in pursuing water/wastewater treatment certifications

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Exposure to loud noise, machinery, electrical systems, chemicals, confined spaces, heights, airborne particles, gases, and wastewater-related hazards
• Required use of PPE and safety equipment at all times in designated areas
• Must be able to:
• • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, and reach throughout shift
  • Lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Ascend/descend stairs across facility areas
  • Perform repetitive hand movements and operate tools/equipment safely
