Position Overview
We are partnering with a leading national electrical contractor that is expanding its mission-critical team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
They are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to take responsibility for the successful delivery of a major data center electrical package, working closely with field leadership, the GC, client and commissioning teams.
This position offers the opportunity to join a contractor with a strong pipeline of large-scale data center work across the U.S.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage electrical construction activities across a large-scale data center project from planning through commissioning and turnover.
- Coordinate closely with Superintendents, General Foremen and field teams to drive schedule, productivity and quality.
- Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, change orders, procurement and financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, short-term look-aheads and key electrical milestones.
- Oversee procurement and delivery of major electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, busway and distribution equipment.
- Coordinate with the GC, engineering teams, other MEP trades, vendors and subcontractors.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, drawing revisions and project documentation.
- Identify potential schedule, cost and constructability issues and drive solutions.
- Support energization, startup, testing and commissioning of critical electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, NEC requirements, QA/QC standards and safety procedures.
- Manage client relationships and provide regular project progress and financial updates.
- Support punch-list completion, closeout documentation and final project turnover.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience as an Electrical Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager with an electrical contractor.
- Strong commercial or industrial electrical construction experience.
- Data center / mission-critical experience strongly preferred.
- Understanding of large-scale electrical distribution and critical-power systems.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, procurement and change management.
- Comfortable coordinating with field leadership and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of electrical drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
- Excellent communication, organization and leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel or temporarily relocate to Cedar Rapids, IA for the duration of the project.
