Maintenance Team Leader – Multifamily | R&R Realty Group | West Des Moines, IA

As our Maintenance Team Leader, you’ll be the person who makes that happen and the leader who helps your team do their best work.

What you’ll do

• Lead and coordinate maintenance across your assigned communities, handling hands-on work yourself and managing trusted vendors when a job calls for it.
• Guide and support your maintenance team by assigning work orders, setting priorities, and sharing your expertise.
• Keep buildings in great shape by inspecting and maintaining common areas, exteriors, roofs, mechanical rooms, resident apartments, and vacant units, working alongside the Property Manager and Community Director.
• Make turns and repairs count so vacant apartments are move-in ready and residents get prompt, professional service.
• Own winter operations by overseeing snow removal and vendor performance so properties are clear by 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
• Keep pools safe and inviting by maintaining your pool operator certification.
• Stay organized by completing work order documentation within 24 hours, including a follow-up plan for longer jobs.
• Be there when it matters through a shared rotation of weekend and after-hours on-call coverage.
• Travel between properties and other locations as needed, and uphold Fair Housing and applicable Tax Credit requirements.

What you bring

• 3 to 5 years of maintenance experience (apartments, property management, or facilities), or an equivalent mix of training and experience
• High school diploma or GED
• Broad skills across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, and general repairs
• A customer-first attitude and pride in a job done right
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Bonus points for leadership experience, HVAC/EPA certification, or a CPO pool certification
