Commercial Plumbing Estimator / Project Manager
\n
\n
Hirsch & Co. LLC is seeking an experienced Commercial Plumbing Estimator / Project Manager to join our team.
\n
\n
This is a key position within our company. We are looking for someone who can estimate commercial plumbing projects and then take an active role in managing awarded projects from contract through completion.
\n
\n
The right candidate will work directly with ownership, field supervisors, general contractors, vendors and our office staff to keep projects organized, profitable and on schedule.
\n
\n
Project Management Responsibilities
\n
\n
• Manage multiple active commercial plumbing projects from award through closeout
\n
• Serve as a primary point of contact between our company and general contractors/project teams
\n
• Review contracts, drawings, specifications and project requirements after award
\n
• Coordinate with field supervisors regarding manpower, scheduling, materials and upcoming work
\n
• Attend project meetings and communicate important information back to the field and ownership
\n
• Monitor project schedules, milestones and deadlines
\n
• Track project budgets, labor hours, material costs and overall profitability
\n
• Identify potential cost overruns and project issues before they become larger problems
\n
• Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings and other project documentation
\n
• Coordinate material purchasing, equipment and deliveries with vendors and the field
\n
• Review upcoming work to make sure materials and information are available before crews need them
\n
• Identify extra work and scope changes in the field
\n
• Prepare, submit and track change orders and PCOs
\n
• Follow up with GCs on outstanding change orders and approvals
\n
• Maintain accurate documentation and backup for additional work
\n
• Assist with monthly requisitions, schedules of values and project billing
\n
• Track outstanding project items and maintain project-specific task lists
\n
• Coordinate inspections, testing, punch lists and project closeout
\n
• Manage as-builts, O&M information and closeout documentation
\n
• Help resolve day-to-day issues between the office, field, vendors and general contractors
\n
• Provide ownership with regular updates on project status, costs, problems and upcoming needs
\n
\n
Estimating Responsibilities
\n
\n
• Review commercial plumbing plans, specifications and bid documents
\n
• Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs
\n
• Prepare estimates and competitive bids
\n
• Solicit and review vendor and subcontractor pricing
\n
• Evaluate project scope, labor requirements and potential risks
\n
• Prepare bid breakdowns and schedules of values
\n
• Participate in scope reviews and project handoffs
\n
• Maintain organized estimating documentation for awarded projects
\n
\n
Qualifications
\n
\n
• Commercial construction estimating and/or project management experience required
\n
• Commercial plumbing or mechanical experience strongly preferred
\n
• Strong ability to read construction drawings and specifications
\n
• Understanding of commercial plumbing systems, materials and installation methods
\n
• Experience managing commercial construction projects
\n
• Experience preparing and managing change orders
\n
• Understanding of construction scheduling, RFIs, submittals, requisitions and closeout procedures
\n
• Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel experience preferred
\n
• Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
\n
• Comfortable communicating directly with GCs, project managers, vendors and field personnel
\n
• Ability to manage several active projects simultaneously
\n
• Ability to work independently, prioritize issues and follow through without constant supervision
\n

We are not looking for someone who only performs takeoffs and submits bids.
\n
\n
We want someone who can take ownership of projects after they are awarded — understanding where each project stands, what the field needs, what needs to be ordered, what needs to be billed, what change orders are outstanding and what problems need to be addressed.

\n
The goal of this position is to provide strong day-to-day management of our commercial projects while working closely with ownership and our field team.
