Job DescriptionThe electric grid is vital to our everyday lives. SERC's mission is to reduce risks to the reliability and security of the electric grid (also known as the bulk power system), not only for today but also for the future.To achieve this mission, we maintain a diverse team of experts across numerous disciplines in order to address the complex, evolving, and dynamic challenges facing the grid. Our team also partners with the best and brightest individuals from both the power industry and the federal government to understand and address the challenges facing the grid. These key partnerships make our work more informed, pragmatic, responsive, and impactful.We are currently seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our team reporting to the Director of IT and Security. The System Administrator must have a broad knowledge of computer software, hardware, and networks. They will be responsible for organizing, modifying, and supporting our company's endpoints and systems. A purposeful expert in their field, the candidate will collaborate with the IT and Security team as well as work with cross functional teams within the organization. This role will support local and wide area networks. Daily tasks may include installing, upgrading and monitoring software and hardware while providing support to other members of the team. The System Administrator is the primary level of IT support for the organization. The System Administrator will maintain the essentials such as operating systems, business applications, security tools, email, laptop, and desktop PCs. This administrator will work closely with senior level administrators and architects within IT and Security to support design and deployment of architecture.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support LANs, WANs, Internet, and intranet systems
- Support Audio Visual equipment and supports end-user use of it
- Ensure the build design of endpoint systems meets organizational needs
- Make recommendations for future upgrades
- Monitor endpoints to ensure security and collaborate with Security Team on projects and mitigations
- Troubleshoot problems reported by users and analyze and isolate issues
- Support patching and vulnerability management activities
- Maintain the integrity of the network, endpoint deployment, and security through documentation and policy enforcement
- Support configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services
- Administer servers, laptop and desktop computers, printers, phones, company mobile phones, software deployment
- Management of M365 users and services and Intune
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences plus 2-4 years of progressively responsible experience in IT or equivalent combination of education and experience; including experience in systems administration, end-user support, and cloud service management
- Experience with current Microsoft Desktop and Server Operating Systems
- Experience with ITIL/ITSM preferred
- Experience with Powershell and scripting
- Experience with Microsoft Intune preferred
- Experience with M365 Administration preferred
- Experience with Virtualization preferred
