Job Title: Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift

Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment on 2nd shift. You will work with both mechanical and electrical systems, including hydraulic and extrusion machinery, CNC equipment, and plant support systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production and facility assets.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs on hydraulic machines, extrusion machines, tapering machines, conveyor lines, powder coat machinery, presses, shears, cranes, welders, mechanical clutches, drive trains, and CNC Haas equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues using blueprints, electrical and mechanical schematics, and technical documentation to restore equipment to proper operation.
  • Install new machinery, including setting equipment, running drops, and ensuring proper mechanical and electrical connections.
  • Rewire motors and related components, working with 24V DC through 480V 3-phase AC systems in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Use a multimeter and other test equipment to verify voltages, continuity, and proper operation of electrical circuits and components.
  • Perform basic PLC troubleshooting by checking inputs and outputs, identifying faults, and assisting in resolving control-related issues.
  • Support more advanced PLC-related activities when needed, including assisting with troubleshooting logic and replacing switches, sensors, and other control devices.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical components such as hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, bearings, and drive systems.
  • Maintain facility equipment and perform grounds maintenance as needed to support overall plant operations and safety.
  • Work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and support continuous improvement in equipment reliability.
  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and company policies while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and teammates about equipment status, repair needs, and completed work.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of industrial multi-craft maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • At least 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience, including work with blueprints, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, bearings, and related components.
  • At least 5 years of electrical maintenance experience, including reading schematics, using a multimeter, installing drops, and rewiring motors.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics accurately.
  • Proficiency using a multimeter and other diagnostic tools to troubleshoot electrical systems from 24V DC through 480V 3-phase AC.
  • Basic PLC skills to check inputs and outputs and perform fundamental PLC troubleshooting with an electrical focus.
  • Strong safety mindset with a commitment to safe work practices and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain a positive, cooperative attitude.
  • Good character and reliability, with a stable work approach and willingness to support others.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Welding and fabrication skills to support equipment repair and modification.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting, including connecting a laptop, following logic, diagnosing issues, and replacing switches and sensors.
  • Experience with PLC programming or willingness to develop programming skills over time.
  • Experience working on aluminum extrusion, fabrication, or similar heavy industrial equipment is beneficial.
  • Comfort working in a loud, non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Flexibility to adjust start times within the 2nd shift window as needed by operations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $66560.00/yr.
