The Electronic Systems Tool Engineer is responsible for translating business and stakeholder needs into clear, complete, and verifiable technical requirements for the electronic tools and software teams. The role involves defining functional and non-functional requirements, documenting system interfaces and boundaries, identifying failure cases, supporting FMEA activities, and leading structured problem-solving with cross-functional stakeholders.

The position works closely with controls, system integration, software development, testing, central tool, and release teams to ensure requirements are well understood, traceable, and aligned with product and business needs. The role also contributes to the development, verification, and continuous improvement of electronic tools and associated engineering processes.

Key Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Investigate electronic tools and software-related problems, identify causal mechanisms, recommend solutions, and document problem resolution.
  • \n

  • Lead structured problem-solving activities with customers, development, testing, and other key stakeholders to resolve technical issues and close knowledge gaps.
  • \n

  • Collaborate with product and software development teams to support the delivery and verification of software features, components, builds, and engineering tools.
  • \n

  • Drive cross-functional and cross-BU work with electronic tools team to closure.
  • \n

Required Qualifications:

\n

    \n
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • \n

  • 5+ years of experience with ECMs, controls validation and verification, and electronic tools
  • \n

  • Experience with Cummins tools (Calterm, INSITE, Calibration Data Management, and Rules Development Environment) and the C2ST database.
  • \n

  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • \n

Preferred qualifications:

\n

    \n
  • Experience with RV&S for requirements management.
  • \n

  • Experience performing bench or hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • \n

  • Experience creating flow charts, system context diagrams, and boundary diagrams using Visio, Microsoft Word, or similar tools.
  • \n
