Coalesce Management Consulting is seeking an experienced Protection & Control Engineer with a strong background in protective relay programming, substation automation, SCADA integration, and industrial communications.

About the Role

\n


\n


\n

This role requires someone who understands the complete digital substation architecture — from protective relays and IEDs through RTUs/data concentrators and communications networks to SCADA/HMI systems.

\n

\n

Responsibilities

\n


\n


\n

    \n
  • Key Responsibilities
  • \n

  • Program, configure, test, and troubleshoot protective relays and IEDs
  • \n

  • Configure relay settings, logic, controls, I/O, and communications
  • \n

  • Integrate relays/IEDs with RTUs, RTACs, gateways, and data concentrators
  • \n

  • Configure and troubleshoot DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus, TCP/IP, and serial communications
  • \n

  • Support SCADA and HMI integration
  • \n

  • Configure and troubleshoot industrial networking and Ethernet switches
  • \n

  • Support testing, commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting of P&C and substation automation systems
  • \n

  • Work across the complete communication path from field devices to the SCADA/master system
  • \n

Qualifications

\n


\n


\n

    \n
  • Ideal Background
  • \n

  • 8+ years of experience in Protection & Control, Substation Automation, SCADA, or Substation Controls
  • \n

  • Strong hands-on experience programming/configuring protective relays
  • \n

  • Experience integrating relays → RTU/data concentrator → SCADA
  • \n

  • Strong understanding of utility communication protocols and industrial networking
  • \n

  • Utility, transmission, distribution, or substation experience strongly preferred
  • \n

Pay range and compensation package

\n


\n


\n

Work Arrangement: Hybrid — onsite Tuesday through Thursday; remote Monday and Friday. Relocation to the New York City area is required.

  • \n

  • SCADA/HMI: Hitachi PCM and similar utility SCADA platforms
  • \n

  • PLC/Controls: Siemens S7 / S7-300
  • \n

  • Networking: Siemens SINEC, RUGGEDCOM, Hirschmann
  • \n

  • Protocols: DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus
  • \n

  • Testing: Omicron, Doble or similar relay test equipment
  • \n
