Job Description

The Computer Repair Technician I is responsible for performing basic to intermediate computer repair tasks, including hardware diagnostics, component replacement, and functional testing on Apple and PC devices within a production and technician lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to intermediate computer repairs on Apple and PC devices, with a strong emphasis on hardware repair and diagnosis.
  • Replace laptop components such as feet cushions, batteries, and individual keyboard keys with precision and care.
  • Conduct tests on computer hardware and ports to verify proper functionality and identify issues.
  • Use inspection equipment and functional testing tools to ensure repaired systems meet quality standards.
  • Erase data from hard drives in accordance with established procedures to prepare devices for reuse or resale.
  • Audit items on the retail production line to confirm accuracy, functionality, and readiness for resale.
  • Handle hardware and software troubleshooting, including diagnosis of issues related to computer electronics and components.
  • Perform repair, assembly, and reassembly of computer hardware using appropriate hand tools and equipment.
  • Work efficiently in a production line setting, meeting daily repair and audit targets while maintaining quality.
  • Collaborate with team members in the technician lab to coordinate workflow and share technical knowledge.
  • Maintain organized workstations and follow established lab and production processes and documentation.
  • Adapt to new technologies and procedures as they are introduced, applying training to day-to-day repair activities.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience repairing Apple or PC products, with a clear emphasis on practical repair experience.
  • Familiarity with Apple products and Apple operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Windows-based products and environments.
  • Proficiency in computer hardware repair, including component replacement and diagnostics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose computer hardware and software issues.
  • Experience working with production line processes related to computer repair or audit.
  • Comfort using hand tools, inspection equipment, and functional testing devices in a repair setting.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to document work and interact with team members.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving repair methods and tools.
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on reliability, quality, and meeting productivity expectations.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player in a collaborative environment.
  • Capability to work in a production environment with structured processes and performance targets.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a technician lab or electronics repair environment.
  • Experience in computer troubleshooting across both Apple (Mac) and PC platforms.
  • Experience with functional testing, inspection, and quality control for computer hardware.
  • Exposure to production line operations, including auditing and preparing items for resale.
  • Apple experience is a plus for audit-focused tasks.
  • Comfort with physical tasks such as handling and moving computer equipment and boxes as needed.
  • Basic understanding of hardware/software interactions and electronics principles.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a structured, process-driven environment where attention to detail, safety, and adherence to procedures are important. Attire is typical for a technical lab and production floor, suitable for hands-on work with tools and computer equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roseville, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
