Title: Cleared HW/SW Test Engineer
We are hiring an onsite HW/SW Test Engineer to support advanced defense technology
testing in Middletown, RI. This role is focused on developing and executing test plans, test
procedures, and test tools for integrated hardware and software systems in Linux and
VxWorks environments.
This is a strong fit for a test engineer who enjoys hands-on integration work, embedded
systems, hardware/software troubleshooting, formal test events, requirements verification,
and working directly with engineering teams to isolate and resolve issues. The best
candidate will understand how to test complex systems, document results clearly, support
sell-off events, and help development teams track defects through resolution.

Schedule: 1st shift, onsite
Contract Type: Renewable one-year contract with potential to extend multiple years or
convert to permanent
Contract Classification: Non-exempt contract

Clearance: Active Secret clearance required at start
Pay Rate: Estimated $84.50 to $99.00/hour, based on experience

Rhode Island Sick Time
Rhode Island sick and safe leave accrues up to 40 hours per year, equal to 5 eight-hour
days per year, based on a full-time schedule.
No per diem or relocation assistance is provided. Candidates must be able to work onsite
in Middletown, RI.
Responsibilities
Develop test plans, test procedures, and test tools for hardware/software systems.
Execute testing for Linux and VxWorks software development efforts.
Perform hardware and software integration testing.
Isolate failures, document issues, and propose technical solutions.
Support formal sell-off test events and integration test periods.
Work closely with development teams when defects are identified.
Track requirements and support verification activities.
Document test results, acceptance evidence, and technical findings.
Support smoke testing, integration testing, harnessing of software/hardware
components, and customer acceptance testing.
Qualifications
Active Secret clearance required at start.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM
discipline with 5+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years.
Test execution experience in software or embedded software environments.
Hardware/software integration testing experience.
Test procedure and test result documentation experience.
Experience with test tracking tools.
Ability to work onsite and travel occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
C software exposure.
Embedded systems experience.
Linux and VxWorks test environment experience.
Jira and Confluence experience.
QA or configuration management experience.
Navy, undersea, maritime, defense, sensor, control, or embedded systems test
background.
