Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Coordinator
Reports To: County Board of Commissioners
Educational Qualifications: None
Experience: Knowledge of blueprints and electrical, HVAC/HVAV-R, Plumbing, carpentry, and control and security systems.
Certifications Required: None
Qualifications required to Perform the Job:
- Ability to interpret and apply technical documents and manuals.
- Ability to delegate and monitor assignments.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to trouble shoot problems and implement corrective actions.
- Ability to hire and manage staff
- Must have adequate computer skills
- Pass and maintain criminal background check and training to meet CJIS (FBI) requirements for unescorted building access.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Achieve County objectives, while managing the department.
- Utilize resources from other departments to perform the job’s functions.
- Maintain services and/or other programs using tact and good judgement.
- Coordinates schedules and operations for the purpose of maintaining facilities operations.
- Direct and assist projects (e.g. site repairs/construction, preventive maintenance, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring completion within established time frame, project design and budget.
- Monitor building systems (HVAC, Security etc.) either physically or remotely to ensure equipment operation and status.
- Order and maintain equipment to service needs of individual buildings.
- Hires, promotes and terminates for the purpose of maintaining staffing needs and productivity of the workforce.
- Research products and equipment to maintain buildings and services.
- Research, order parts and services to support maintenance.
- Participate in meetings and workshops for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Continually look for better ways to provide service and upgrade County facilities.
- Maintain a safe environment for County employees to work in.
- Do time and labor studies to improve all County interests.
- Do cost estimates for County projects.
- Inspect new construction, repair work, projects, equipment, work orders, daily maintenance and supplies to ensure that jobs are completed efficiently; specifications for major capital improvements are within Local/State/Federal regulations; and approve inspection reports and payment requests.
- Inspect all buildings on a regular basis to ensure a safe and desirable condition for normal operations.
- Maintain all equipment manuals, equipment warranties and tool inventories.
- Review work orders to ensure proper documentation.
- Model and maintain high ethical standards.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding County/workplace matters.
- Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignments.
- Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals and make appropriate employment recommendations.
- Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
- Follow Federal and State laws as well as County of Hillsdale Board policies.
- Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
- Demonstrate support for the County of Hillsdale and its goals and priorities.
- Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
