Job Description

Seeking a reliable, skilled Building Maintenance Technician to oversee facility upkeep for a premier manufacturer in Wixom, MI. Operating out of a newer, state-of-the-art facility, you will ensure our administrative offices, production floors, and warehouse spaces remain safe, clean, and fully operational.

This is a versatile, hands-on role perfect for an experienced handyman or industrial maintenance worker who takes pride in proactive upkeep and keeping a modern production environment running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Facility Repair: Perform routine repairs across office suites, production space, and warehouse areas (drywall patching, light carpentry, door hardware, paint touch-ups).

  • Basic Mechanical & Plumbing: Handle minor plumbing fixes (faucets, drains, toilets) and routine mechanical upkeep (HVAC filter replacements, basic fixture repairs).

  • Basic Electrical Upkeep: Change light fixtures, ballasts, switches, and outlets; assist higher-level technicians during complex power upgrades when needed.

  • Warehouse & Floor Support: Maintain production floor safety, address minor dock door/overhead door issues, and assist with layout adjustments or equipment moves.

  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular walkthroughs to identify hazards, execute daily inspection checklists, and maintain grounds cleanliness/waste management coordination.

  • Vendor Coordination: Escalate specialized HVAC, security, or heavy structural repairs to third-party contractors as necessary.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of building maintenance, handyman, or facility operations experience—preferably in a manufacturing, warehouse, or commercial environment.

  • Broad tool fluency across general carpentry, light plumbing, basic electrical, and hardware repair.

  • Comfortable working on ladders, operating scissor lifts/forklifts, and lifting up to 50 lbs safely.

  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, self-directed working style.

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade certifications or OSHA cards are a plus.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.

  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays.

  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.

  • Clean, modern, climate-controlled office and manufacturing environment.
