Job Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility machinery in a beverage manufacturing environment. This role follows established standard operating procedures, supports equipment reliability through preventive and predictive maintenance, and helps maintain food safety, product quality, and SQF standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility machinery and related systems.
- Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and apply safe, effective maintenance practices at all times.
- Support and maintain food safety, product quality, and SQF standards during all maintenance activities.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) and accurately document all work performed in MaintainX.
- Support predictive maintenance activities such as vibration monitoring, torque checks, and thermography.
- Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns systematically, identify and document root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Verify repairs by testing equipment under load and confirming readiness for production.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical and mechanical schematics, and OEM manuals to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Safely operate tools and measuring devices such as torque wrenches, calipers, and gauges.
- Service and maintain conveyors, pumps, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), gearboxes, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Accurately log part usage, labor time, and corrective notes for each work order in MaintainX.
- Ensure all work orders are fully completed with appropriate details before closing them out.
- Update and help maintain spare parts documentation, including critical spares, gaps, and shortages.
- Support maintenance planning by providing accurate repair feedback and detailed parts usage information.
- Perform proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures before beginning any maintenance work.
- Demonstrate accountability, dependability, and a collaborative approach when working with team members.
- Identify, suggest, and help implement improvements that reduce downtime, scrap, and recurring equipment issues.
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of standard work, including SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and training materials.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent, with basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
- 35 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a production operations or manufacturing environment.
- Advanced skills in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Advanced skills in plumbing, carpentry, piping systems, welding, and PLC programming.
- Strong proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, prints, schematics, and OEM manuals.
- Ability to safely operate and use tools and measuring devices such as torque wrenches, calipers, and gauges.
- Competence in servicing conveyors, pumps, motors, VFDs, gearboxes, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely as part of daily work activities.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery, tools, and computer systems.
- Understanding and application of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices.
- Ability to maintain food safety and quality standards, including adherence to SQF requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
- Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), such as MaintainX, for work orders and documentation.
- Strong documentation skills with attention to detail in recording work performed, parts usage, and corrective actions.
- Ability to provide clear feedback to planners and supervisors regarding equipment condition and repair needs.
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and support initiatives that reduce downtime and scrap.
- Strong teamwork, reliability, and communication skills to support a collaborative maintenance culture.

Work Environment
This role operates in a beverage manufacturing facility with production machinery, conveyors, pumps, motors, VFDs, gearboxes, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Work involves hands-on maintenance tasks on the plant floor, including preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs around operating equipment. The position requires safe use of hand tools and precision measuring devices, adherence to lockout/tagout procedures, and consistent compliance with food safety, quality, and SQF standards. The environment is fast-paced and production-oriented, with regular interaction with operations and maintenance teams and routine use of a CMMS (MaintainX) and standard office software for documentation and communication.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Pittston, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
