Job Description

Financial Systems Application Support Analyst

Remote – Texas (Central Time Zone Preferred)

Contract-to-Hire | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Financial Systems Application Support Analyst who enjoys solving business problems, investigating data, and partnering with Accounting, Finance, and IT to keep critical financial applications running smoothly.

This is not a software development role. Instead, you'll serve as the bridge between business users and technology—investigating production issues, analyzing data, identifying root causes, and ensuring our financial systems remain accurate, reliable, and well supported.

SQL is one of your primary investigative tools. You'll use it daily to research production issues, validate financial data, reconcile transactions, and uncover the root causes of application and data problems. If you enjoy asking questions, digging into data, and solving puzzles that directly impact the business, you'll thrive in this role.

What You'll Do

Every day presents a new challenge. One morning you may be helping Accounting determine why invoices didn't post correctly. That afternoon you could be validating General Ledger transactions, testing an application enhancement, or working with developers to resolve a production issue.

As one of the primary support resources for our financial applications, you will:

• Investigate production issues affecting financial applications and coordinate timely resolution.
• Write complex SQL queries daily to research issues, validate financial data, troubleshoot production problems, and support reporting requests.
• Support enterprise financial applications including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and related accounting workflows.
• Analyze application data to identify inconsistencies, reconcile financial transactions, and verify system accuracy.
• Partner closely with Accounting, Finance, IT, and development teams to translate business issues into effective technical solutions.
• Perform root cause analysis and document findings for recurring production issues.
• Create functional requirements, user stories, and backlog items for application enhancements.
• Develop and execute test plans, regression testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for releases and production fixes.
• Support application configuration, release validation, production deployments, and post-release verification.
• Maintain support documentation, knowledge articles, test scripts, and end-user documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, application stability, and data quality.

What Success Looks Like

Successful analysts in this role are naturally curious, methodical, and collaborative. They enjoy investigating issues rather than simply escalating them. They communicate effectively with accountants, developers, and business leaders while using SQL and analytical thinking to solve complex production problems.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL query writing skills with the ability to independently investigate and troubleshoot production issues.
• Experience supporting enterprise business applications in a production environment.
• Experience supporting financial systems or ERP applications, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or related accounting processes.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Accounting, Finance, IT, and development teams.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and data analysis.
• Experience working within Agile or Scrum development environments.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional customer service.

Preferred Experience

• ERP, Procurement, Treasury, Revenue, or Tax applications.
• API integrations and system-to-system data exchanges.
• Enterprise application release management and production support.
• Experience coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validating production releases.

The Ideal Candidate

You're a problem solver who enjoys investigating complex issues, working with data, and collaborating across business and technology teams. You understand that the goal isn't just fixing an application—it's helping the business operate efficiently by ensuring critical financial systems remain accurate, stable, and dependable.
