  • Use test instruments, schematics, and ladder logic to diagnose/repair; RSLogix/Allen‑Bradley PLC experience.
  • ABB/Motoman/Fanuc robots preferred; assist with machine program changes.
  • Install/troubleshoot motors, drives, starters, I/O; proficiency at 480V and 4160V; VFDs; panel building; schematics.
  • Lockout/tagout and arc‑flash knowledge; apply NEC; bend conduit with minimal assistance.
  • Competent with electrical test equipment; read and apply blueprints/electrical schematics.
  • Welding principles and safe torch use; read gauges/dials; use levels and squares accurately.

Career path and testing

All Maintenance and Master candidates complete in‑field evaluations (e.g., hydraulic pump rebuilds, electrical troubleshooting on live equipment, welding). A Ramsey Maintenance Test score above the 80th national percentile enables promotion from Maintenance Technician to Master Maintenance Technician.
