Java Developer – AWS Position Overview
Build and maintain Java applications spanning complex back-end services and client-facing desktop and mobile applications. This role focuses on designing and developing reliable, high-quality applications while collaborating with team members working across different layers of the infrastructure.
The role is suited for a Java developer with strong object-oriented programming fundamentals, knowledge of Java ecosystems including AWS, and hands-on experience with application frameworks, databases, testing, version control, and build tools.
What You'll Do / Key Responsibilities

Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications.

Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code.

Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.

Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to these problems.

Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation.

Coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure.
Required Qualifications

Proficiency in Java and knowledge of its ecosystem, including AWS.

Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.

Familiarity with various design and architectural patterns.

Ability to write reusable Java libraries.

Knowledge of concurrency patterns in Java.

Familiarity with MVC, JDBC, and RESTful concepts.

Experience with popular web application frameworks, such as Play and Spark.

Familiarity with Java GUI frameworks.

Ability to write clean, readable Java code.

Experience with both external and embedded databases.

Understanding of fundamental design principles behind scalable applications.

Basic understanding of the Java class loading mechanism.

Experience creating database schemas that represent and support business processes.

Basic understanding of the JVM, including its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds.

Experience implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests.

Proficiency with code versioning tools, such as Git.

Familiarity with build tools such as Ant, Maven, and Gradle.

Familiarity with continuous integration.
