Operations and Facilities Supervisor
Job Description
The Operations and Facilities Supervisor is a working supervisor position, actively performing grounds and shipping/receiving work alongside the team while also providing leadership and daily direction. This role is an integral member of the Operations team, with a primary focus on supervising the Grounds and Shipping and Receiving teams. It is ideal for a leader who is willing to work alongside staff, coordinate daily operations, and maintain safe, efficient, and well-functioning facilities. In addition, this position serves as a key resource and point of support in the absence of the Head, Building & Grounds.

Key Responsibilities
\n

- Work alongside the Grounds team and Shipping and Receiving team to complete daily tasks, while providing direct supervision, leadership, and daily direction.
- Perform grounds maintenance and shipping/receiving duties as needed to support team workload and operational demands.
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, work assignments, and training for Grounds and Shipping and Receiving personnel.
- Oversee Shipping and Receiving operations, including internal deliveries, shipments (international and domestic), scientific material handling, and dock safety.
- Ensure Grounds operations are completed efficiently and meet facility standards and safety requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, water feature maintenance, seasonal plantings for the flower beds, grounds maintenance, irrigation system maintenance, and snow removal.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Grounds and Shipping and Receiving operational issues
- Collaborate with Facilities and other departments to plan and complete work efficiently
- Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and building regulations per Environmental Health & Safety guidance.

Qualifications & Experience
\n
- \n
- 5+ years of hands-on experience supervising grounds, shipping and receiving, or a comparable operations department
- Strong supervisory, leadership, and team management skills
- Working knowledge of landscaping maintenance and shipping and receiving operations
- Knowledge of how to use and perform maintenance on lawncare equipment and irrigation systems.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with grounds and receiving work (lifting, standing, outdoor work, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver's license necessary to perform work functions. This includes operating institute vehicles.

Education

- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Associate degree, trade certification, or equivalent experience (preferred)
