Roads & Grounds Maintenance Associate

Position Summary
The Roads & Grounds Associate performs a wide variety of tasks related to the maintenance, beautification, and safe condition of the Heather Gardens grounds. This position supports lawn care, irrigation, tree and shrub maintenance, seasonal operations, landscape improvements, and general grounds upkeep.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Roads & Grounds Manager and may receive daily direction from supervisory staff.
This role requires physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
Compensation (Colorado Pay Transparency)
Hourly Range: $19.50 – $22.00 per hour
Starting pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Heather Gardens Association maintains established pay ranges and does not negotiate outside of the posted range.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Landscape & Turf Maintenance
- Mowing, edging, aeration, fertilization, and sod/seed installation
- Shrub and tree pruning under supervision
- Flower bed care, weed control, leaf removal, and debris cleanup
Irrigation Support
- Assist with maintenance and repair of irrigation systems
- Support troubleshooting and seasonal system adjustments
Landscape Installation & Repair
- Planting and removal of trees and shrubs
- Rock bed maintenance and replacement
- Soil preparation and grading
- Parking block installation and replacement
- Bollard repair and replacement
Seasonal Operations
- Snow removal and ice mitigation
- Winter grounds support
General
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and landscape equipment
- Operate Association vehicles as required
- Follow all safety procedures and report hazards promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- At least a tenth-grade education
- Grounds or landscape experience preferred but not required
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Ability to operate motor vehicles
- Strong work ethic and team-oriented mindset
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting, bending, kneeling, and overhead work
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and varying weather conditions
