Test/Market Quality Engineer

Marysville, OH

6 month Contract to Hire

A major automotive company is looking for a Test Engineer to investigate Market Quality Issues. This role will involve issue investigation, testing and root cause analysis. An automotive background is required for this role. Candidates with extensive automotive hobby experience will also be considered. Mechanics or technicans with Associate's Degrees will also be considerd.

Job Summary

This Test Engineer investigates warranty and field-related product issues, identifies root causes, and works with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and service teams to develop and implement effective countermeasures and improve product quality.

Analyze failed warranty parts and vehicles by conducting hands-on testing and investigation to reproduce failures and identify potential causes.
Investigate product defects and quality issues related to design, manufacturing, service, or other field influences, using data and technical analysis to determine root cause.
Develop clear technical reports, investigation summaries, and documentation, and present findings and recommendations to quality management.
Collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and service teams to investigate problems and drive timely resolution.
Support containment activities by working with responsible departments and suppliers to identify, implement, and verify appropriate countermeasures.
Analyze warranty data and investigation records to support cost recovery efforts and supplier negotiations.
Monitor assigned quality issues and contribute to overall market quality and product improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Technology, or a related engineering field.
Equivalent relevant technical experience may also be considered.
0-6 years of relevant engineering, quality, testing, or technical problem-solving experience, depending on education and background.
Automotive experience is preferred but not required.
Strong ability to troubleshoot technical problems and identify root causes.
Ability to analyze test results, observations, and data and draw logical conclusions.
Hands-on approach to testing, failure investigation, and problem solving.
Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, engineering, manufacturing, and service organizations.
Ability to manage multiple investigations and follow problems through to resolution.
