Northeast Horticultural Services is seeking a Tree Care Worker - Ground to support safe, efficient tree care operations at job sites in Bridgeport, CT.

Position Summary

The Tree Worker - Groundsmen plays a key role in maintaining job site readiness and supporting skilled arborist teams during tree care and removal activities. This position emphasizes safety, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions while working efficiently in outdoor environments.

You will help prepare sites, assist with equipment setup and material handling, and contribute to high-quality outcomes through safe work practices and dependable teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with ground-level tree care tasks, including site setup, cleanup, and staging of materials.

• Support safe operation of job site equipment under direction, including inspection readiness and basic pre-use checks.

• Perform manual labor tasks such as lifting, loading, carrying, and moving debris or brush using proper techniques.

• Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and site rules.

• Communicate effectively with crew members and report hazards, concerns, or progress updates as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

• Strong commitment to safety and the willingness to follow established procedures.

• Basic understanding of safe work practices around equipment, pedestrians, and active work zones.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a crew, while taking direction and staying focused.

• Reliable attendance and readiness to complete assigned tasks on schedule.

• Complete Arboriculture Safety 101 within 30 days of hire.

• CPR/First Aid

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience assisting with tree care, landscaping, or general grounds maintenance.

• Familiarity with job site safety practices and safe handling of tools and materials.

• Experience working outdoors in a fast-paced environment with changing conditions.

• Demonstrated ability to lift and carry heavy materials safely and consistently.

• OSHA 10

• CDL

• Experience with chainsaw operation, chipper operation and bucket trucks

Compensation

Hourly rate: $26.00 - $35.00
