Position Overview
Lead and deliver complex electrical construction projects primarily data center and critical facilities from preconstruction through closeout. The Electrical Construction Senior Project Manager is responsible for project planning, budget and schedule control, quality, safety, and client satisfaction. This role requires deep technical knowledge of electrical systems, proven leadership managing multi-discipline teams and subcontractors, and practical experience using tools like Bluebeam Revu to drive efficient project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full project lifecycle for electrical construction projects including data centers: preconstruction, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets; track progress, forecast risks and prepare recovery plans to meet milestone and financial targets.
- Coordinate and lead subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure work meets scope, schedule, quality and safety requirements.
- Review, interpret and manage electrical design documents, submittals, RFIs and change orders; ensure constructability and code compliance (NEC and local authority having jurisdiction).
- Use Bluebeam Revu and other document control tools to review drawings, create markups, manage revisions and communicate design changes effectively.
- Oversee installation and testing of electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, UPS, distribution, grounding, lighting and controls; coordinate with commissioning teams to validate performance.
- Implement and enforce site safety programs and quality control processes; conduct regular site inspections and lead safety meetings.
- Maintain clear client and stakeholder communication; provide regular status reports, attend progress meetings and manage expectations.
- Manage project closeout including punch lists, as-built documentation, O&M manuals and warranty coordination.
- Mentor and develop project staff, promote best practices and improve processes related to electrical construction management.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 10+ years of electrical construction experience with at least 5 years in a senior project management role.
- Proven experience managing data center or other critical facility electrical construction projects.
- Proficient in Bluebeam Revu for drawing review and markups; strong document control skills.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and components (medium voltage, switchgear, transformers, UPS, distribution, grounding) and relevant codes (NEC).
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules and subcontractor performance.
- Experience with commissioning processes and working with commissioning agents and testing contractors.
- Familiarity with construction management software (MS Project, Procore or similar) and BIM/Revit collaboration preferred.
- PMP, PE or equivalent certification is a plus; OSHA 30 or other safety certifications preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, problem-solving and negotiation skills; ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
