We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical engineering background. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of relevant experience and will bring a strong hands-on mechanical aptitude. This role offers exposure to specialized steam turbine and industrial power-generation systems, providing opportunities to work directly with experienced engineering leadership and support real equipment in both shop and field environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design machined parts using CAD software, ensuring designs are manufacturable and can be seamlessly handed off to machine shops.
  • Engage in mechanical troubleshooting and execute projects from design through shop and field installations.
  • Support assembly and testing of components, and assist in customer-site installations.
  • Travel 20 to 30 percent annually, especially during spring and fall busy seasons, to provide customer-facing field support.
  • Work directly with customers at field sites, representing the company professionally and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in CAD design for machined parts.
  • Understanding of design for manufacturability and operational knowledge of machine shops.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical engineering aptitude, including the ability to work on equipment in a shop environment.
  • Ability to travel and provide professional customer-facing support.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Exposure to steam turbines, rotating equipment, power generation, or industrial equipment is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in supporting installations, fieldwork, or commissioning.
  • background or hobbies demonstrating mechanical hands-on interest, such as working on cars, building equipment, or racing.

Work Environment

The role is primarily based in an office/shop environment in Loveland, with typical working hours of 8-hour days, 40-hour weeks, five days a week. The position requires physical presence in the shop and on-site, working around steam turbines during installation or support activities. Travel is 20 to 30 percent annually, with trips often lasting about a week to a week and a half, especially during peak seasons. The environment is described as flexible but primarily in-office.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Golden, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $60.00/hr.
