About NOCD

\n

NOCD is the #1 telehealth provider for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). OCD is one of the most severe, prevalent, and misunderstood mental health conditions. NOCD creates access to evidence-based treatment through our telehealth platform, where Members can quickly access and schedule live, face-to-face video therapy with a national network of licensed Therapists specializing in Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP).

\n

\n

At NOCD, we're helping people reclaim their lives by removing barriers to effective OCD care and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health treatment. We're building technology that makes specialized care easier to access and we're looking for engineers who want their work to have a meaningful impact.

\n

\n

The Opportunity

\n

NOCD is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale products that expand access to life-changing mental healthcare.

\n

\n

This is a hands-on engineering role with significant ownership. You'll work across the stack to build new products and experiences, solve complex technical problems, and help evolve the systems that power NOCD's member and clinician experiences.

\n

\n

You'll work closely with Engineering, Product, Design, AI, and Clinical teams to take ideas from early concepts through production. You'll have the opportunity to influence architecture, make technical decisions, and contribute to the direction of products—not simply implement predefined requirements.

\n

\n

We're looking for an engineer who enjoys solving ambiguous problems, moves comfortably between backend and frontend development, and takes ownership from idea → architecture → implementation → launch → iteration.

\n

\n

What You'll Do

\n

Build & Ship Products

\n

    \n
  • Build new products and experiences from concept through production.
  • \n

  • Translate ambiguous product and user needs into thoughtful technical solutions.
  • \n

  • Rapidly prototype, validate, and iterate on new ideas.
  • \n

  • Own features and systems through architecture, implementation, launch, and ongoing improvement.
  • \n

  • Build reliable, maintainable software that can scale with NOCD's growth.
  • \n

\n

\n

Full-Stack Engineering

\n

    \n
  • Build backend services and APIs using Python.
  • \n

  • Develop modern frontend experiences using React and TypeScript.
  • \n

  • Design APIs, data models, and system architecture for new applications.
  • \n

  • Work with AWS and cloud-native technologies to build and operate production systems.
  • \n

  • Work with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Aurora.
  • \n

  • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable production code.
  • \n

\n

\n

Product & Cross-Functional Partnership

\n

    \n
  • Partner closely with Product and Design to understand member and clinician needs.
  • \n

  • Help determine what should be built and how technology can best solve the problem.
  • \n

  • Make thoughtful tradeoffs between speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
  • \n

  • Collaborate with Clinical and operational teams to understand the real-world impact of the products you're building.
  • \n

  • Use data, feedback, and experimentation to improve products after launch.
  • \n

\n

\n

Technical Leadership

\n

    \n
  • Influence architecture and engineering practices across new initiatives.
  • \n

  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and collaboration.
  • \n

  • Improve developer tooling, testing, and engineering workflows.
  • \n

  • Help establish patterns and technical foundations that enable the engineering organization to move faster.
  • \n

\n

\n

What We're Looking For

\n

    \n
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • \n

  • Strong professional experience with Python
  • \n

  • Strong experience with React and TypeScript
  • \n

  • Experience building and operating production applications across the full software development lifecycle
  • \n

  • Experience designing and building APIs and distributed systems
  • \n

  • Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS
  • \n

  • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Aurora
  • \n

  • Experience taking ownership of projects from technical design through production
  • \n

  • Strong understanding of software architecture, testing, performance, and maintainability
  • \n

  • Ability to work effectively through ambiguity and make sound technical decisions with incomplete information
  • \n

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across Engineering, Product, and Design
  • \n

\n

\n

Nice to Have

\n

    \n
  • Experience building products from 0→1
  • \n

  • Startup or high-growth company experience
  • \n

  • Experience as an early engineer or owning new product initiatives
  • \n

  • Experience building multi-tenant SaaS products
  • \n

  • Experience with AI-powered products
  • \n

  • Infrastructure-as-Code experience, particularly Terraform
  • \n

  • Experience with CI/CD and GitHub Actions
  • \n

  • Experience with analytics platforms such as BigQuery or Metabase
  • \n

  • Experience building products used directly by patients, clinicians, or consumers
  • \n

  • Experience in healthcare, digital health, or HIPAA-regulated environments
  • \n

\n

\n

What Success Looks Like

\n

In your first year, you'll:

\n

    \n
  • Ship meaningful products and experiences that improve how Members and clinicians interact with NOCD.
  • \n

  • Establish scalable technical foundations for new products.
  • \n

  • Improve engineering velocity through better architecture, tooling, and development practices.
  • \n

  • Partner with Product and Design to turn ambiguous problems into effective solutions.
  • \n

  • Help the team move quickly without sacrificing reliability or long-term maintainability.
  • \n

  • Contribute to products that make specialized mental healthcare easier to discover, access, and receive.
  • \n

\n

\n

Why NOCD

\n

\n

At NOCD, you'll work on technology tied directly to a mission that matters. The products you build aren't just optimizing clicks or engagement, they help people access evidence-based treatment for a condition that can profoundly impact their lives.

\n

\n

You'll have the opportunity to:

\n

    \n
  • Own meaningful technical problems from concept through production.
  • \n

  • Work across Product, Design, Clinical, AI, and Engineering.
  • \n

  • Build new products in a rapidly growing healthcare technology company.
  • \n

  • Influence architecture and engineering practices as the organization scales.
  • \n

  • See a direct connection between the technology you build and the people it helps.
  • \n

\n

\n

What We Offer

\n

    \n
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision coverage, and 401(k) match
  • \n

  • PTO based on an accrual system
  • \n

  • Casual and engaging startup environment with a mission-driven team
  • \n

  • Downtown Chicago office with an on-site gym
  • \n

  • 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave for the primary caregiver and 6 weeks for the secondary caregiver, for qualifying full-time employees
  • \n

\n

Compensation for this role ranges from $165,000–$200,000 annually. Actual pay will be based on the individual's qualifications and experience.
