Job Title: Mainframe DB2 Replication Engineer

Job Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months (Contract to Hire)
Schedule: Hybrid | 3 days onsite, 2 days work from home
Pay Rate: $60 - $65/hr

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DB2 Replication Engineer to design, implement, and support data replication solutions across IBM z/OS and distributed environments, ensuring reliable data synchronization, high availability, and data consistency for critical banking applications.
Required Qualifications

Experience with DB2 for z/OS and ZDIH.

Experience with MIPS reduction and optimization projects.

Experience with UNIX System Services (USS), including patch installation and UNIX scripting.

Knowledge of RACF.

Hands-on experience with IBM InfoSphere Data Replication (IIDR) / Change Data Capture (CDC).

Knowledge of Q Replication is preferred.

Understanding of replication architecture, data flow design, and Change Data Capture (CDC) concepts.

Strong troubleshooting skills related to data consistency, replication failures, and performance latency.

Experience with JCL, TSO/ISPF, and SDSF.

Experience supporting mainframe batch and online environments.
Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with MQ and messaging systems.

Experience with ETL and data warehousing platforms.

Experience with monitoring tools.

Experience with automation using REXX, Python, or other scripting languages.

Exposure to cloud or hybrid data architectures.

Experience with large-scale data migration or modernization programs.

Knowledge of real-time data streaming architectures.
Responsibilities
-
Design, install, configure, and maintain DB2 replication solutions across mainframe and distributed platforms.

Build and manage source-to-target replication pipelines.
-
Configure and support capture processes, apply processes, and control servers.
-
Implement unidirectional and bidirectional replication configurations.
-
Develop real-time and near-real-time data synchronization solutions.
-
Troubleshoot data inconsistencies, replication failures, queue backlogs, and network interruptions.

Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for production incidents.

Tune replication processes to reduce latency, optimize resource utilization, and minimize impact on source systems.

Optimize data capture efficiency, apply performance, and network usage.

Support integration between DB2 for z/OS, DB2 LUW, distributed databases, message queues, and ETL platforms.

Collaborate with DBAs, application teams, data engineering teams, and business intelligence teams to maintain reliable data replication.
