Facilities Maintenance Technician
Maintain plant and warehouse facilities, lead and participate in sanitation and building-support work, and shift into hands-on process support during the seasonal pack to keep product moving safely and efficiently.
The best fit is a facilities or plant-maintenance professional who can inspect and repair building systems, coordinate contractors and supplies, keep audit-ready sanitation records, guide assigned staff, and work nights or extended hours during pack when seasonal needs require it.
Location: Mayville, Wisconsin
Schedule
- Off-pack: Monday-Thursday, 6:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
- Pack season: extended 6x12 coverage with possible night assignment based on the needs of each season; specific shift assignment can vary.
Openings: 1
Compensation: $28.00 per hour- (potential flexibility if experience matches industry and candidate has long tenure and strong experience, but doubtful it will be much more)
Responsibilities
- Direct and perform maintenance of facility structures, plant buildings, warehouse areas, and operational support systems.
- Oversee and participate in cleaning and sanitation work throughout the facility.
- Conduct routine and periodic physical inspections and keep accurate records for master sanitation tasks and facility conditions.
- Maintain readiness and compliance for food-safety audits, GMP audits, plant inspections, lockout/tagout audits, and sanitation audits.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors and help procure sanitation chemicals, janitorial supplies, repair materials, and facility-maintenance services.
- Lead, motivate, train, and develop facility-maintenance and assigned sanitation employees.
- Participate in or lead safety, training, problem-solving, and employee-development meetings.
- During pack season, work in the assigned production or support area to maintain adequate product flow and respond to operational needs.
- Complete hands-on repairs, preventive maintenance, follow-up work, and documentation while maintaining efficiency, accuracy, and quality.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, company policies, food-safety requirements, safety rules, and regulations.
Qualifications
- Hands-on facilities, building maintenance, plant services, sanitation, industrial maintenance, or closely related experience.
- Ability to inspect facility conditions, identify repair or sanitation needs, prioritize work, and maintain accurate records.
- Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, supplies, or service work.
- Ability to lead or guide employees and communicate effectively across maintenance, sanitation, production, and management.
- Strong attention to detail, sound decision-making, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work onsite in Mayville and reliably support the seasonal schedule, including possible pack-season nights and extended hours.
- Willingness to perform hands-on work and support production flow during pack rather than remain limited to office or vendor coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- Food, beverage, dairy, packaging, agricultural processing, or other audit-intensive manufacturing experience.
- GMP, sanitation, food-safety, LOTO, inspection, or audit-readiness experience.
- Experience leading sanitation, custodial, facilities, or plant-services employees.
- Working knowledge of building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, doors, lighting, basic electrical, grounds, and general repair.
- CMMS, work-order, inspection-log, or master-sanitation-schedule documentation experience.
