Kalle USA is a market leader in the production of casings and nettings for the meat processing industry. In the US we employ more than 300 people at two locations, Illinois and California. For our plant in Gurnee, IL. we are looking for a QA Supervisor.
JOB PURPOSE: Ensuring quality and food safety standards are consistently maintained.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises and directs Quality and Food Safety personnel.
- Takes responsibility for sample system (Gurnee only)
- Investigate internal non-conformances and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Assists in the investigation of external non-conformances and the implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
- Take responsibility for the QH areas.
- Monitors proper Quality and Food Safety documentation from inspectors and operators and identifies areas of noncompliance.
- Provides technical support to production on Quality and Food Safety issues.
- Develop converting product specifications.
- Provide training to employees on all shifts.
- Participating as a member of Six Sigma and Emergency Teams
- Assists in internal audit procedures.
- Implements and maintains procedures that guarantee deliverables meet the company's and customers' Quality and Food Safety expectations.
- Develops, processes, and generate metrics and indicators of Quality and Food Safety for the manufacturing processes.
- Maintains Quality and Food Safety methodologies; collects, analyzes, and oversees data entry on relevant Quality and Food Safety performance indicators.
- Conduct quality and Food Safety review audits as appropriate to the organization.
- Recommends disposition of any on-hold, or withheld products or raw materials or work in process
- Assists and supports in all areas of the QA department as necessary to complete the departmental and company tasks and goals.
- Ensures employee safety.
- Assists in training new employees and cross-training other employees.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications.
- Conducts other duties as assigned.
- AUTHORITY: Place equipment and processes on hold due to quality or food safety issues. Reject materials not conforming to specifications. Release incoming material per established specifications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in science and/or three (3) years' experience in Quality Assurance preferably in the Food or Food Packaging industry
- Internal auditor for Quality and/or Food Safety Management Systems (FSSC 22000 / ISO 9001)
- PCQI Certification
- One (1) - Three (3) years of supervision experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm. With flexibility to work off shift on short notice.
