Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and test control systems within data center environments, focusing on HVAC, power, lighting, and building automation systems.
  • Validate sensors, instruments, electrical devices, and control communications to ensure proper installation, tagging, and functionality.
  • Perform loop checks to verify communication with SCADA and control panels.
  • Identify and document installation errors such as wrong instruments, incorrect tags, and terminal connection issues.
  • Conduct field measurements and system testing to verify operational performance.
  • Commission electrical devices, supporting VLAN configuration and network connectivity to SCADA systems.
  • Support L4 contractors with tests and circuit breaker verification.
  • Upload daily reports, maintain accurate records of activities, and document non-conformances.
  • Generate commissioning reports for operational handoff.
  • Collaborate with commissioning engineers, controls specialists, and trades for seamless project execution.
  • Communicate findings clearly and support system integration activities.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards, including OSHA 10 certification prior to onsite work.
  • Adhere to dress code requirements: safety-toed leather boots, ANSI-approved safety glasses, long sleeves, and no synthetic materials.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in electrical, mechanical, or controls technology preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years of field experience in instrumentation, electrical systems, or controls.
  • Experience performing loop checks and verifying sensor/device communication.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control documentation.
  • Ability to interpret tag nomenclature and verify correct device labeling and connectivity.
  • Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and clear documentation abilities.
  • Proficiency with measurement tools and network configuration concepts.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and cooling infrastructure in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience with iPad-based reporting tools and Ethernet/IP or industrial protocols preferred.
  • Safety-conscious, proactive, self-directed, and capable of working in fast-paced environments.
