Oikos Community Development Corporation is seeking a motivated, relational, and dependable college student for a unique summer role helping support the early development of The Hill, an adaptive reuse affordable and supportive housing project in Southwest Houston.
This is not simply an office job. The role combines:
- project support,
- community engagement,

- and day-to-day operational help.

Primary Responsibilities
Property & Site Support
- Help clean, organize, and improve spaces inside and outside the building
- Assist with hauling light debris, organizing storage, and preparing areas for tours or contractor visits
- Help monitor the property and communicate any issues or needs
- Assist in keeping the site welcoming, presentable, and functional

Community & Tenant Relationships
- Build friendly relationships with current tenants and nearby neighbors
- Serve as a positive and helpful presence around the property
- Help strengthen relationships with the surrounding community
- Explore opportunities to connect with nearby organizations and schools, including Wisdom High School

Donor & Guest Hospitality
- Help welcome donors, partners, consultants, and visitors touring the building
- Assist with preparing spaces for meetings and tours
- Help create a warm, organized, and hospitable environment for guests
---
Contractor & Vendor Coordination
- Be available at times to help meet contractors, inspectors, architects, or vendors needing access to the property
- Assist with scheduling coordination and communication
- Help document visits or follow-up needs
---
Administrative & Errand Support
- Assist with errands related to the project
- Help transport supplies or materials when needed
- Support project leadership with practical day-to-day needs that help keep momentum moving

Preferred Qualifications
- Current college student or recent graduate
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
- Access to a truck or SUV is a significant plus for hauling donated materials, supplies, or debris
- Familiarity with Houston is helpful
- Spanish language ability is a plus, but not required
