Job DescriptionSenior Facilities Wastewater Engineer

Location: Tempe/Peoria, Arizona

Help build and operate the wastewater infrastructure supporting a major new semiconductor manufacturing facility. This position offers the opportunity to influence systems from initial design and construction through commissioning, start-up, and full-scale factory operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the design, installation, commissioning, and start-up of organic, inorganic, and biological wastewater treatment systems.

  • Partner with engineering firms, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to deliver reliable, scalable treatment infrastructure.

  • Oversee treatment operations, including system monitoring, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and performance optimization.

  • Track water quality, flow rates, chemical consumption, equipment performance, and other operational metrics.

  • Support wastewater discharge permitting and related environmental approvals.

  • Prepare regulatory reports and maintain compliance with county and other applicable environmental requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce water consumption, improve treatment efficiency, reuse water, and minimize discharge impacts.

  • Establish and enforce safe practices for chemical handling, confined-space work, and equipment operation.

  • Contribute to corporate sustainability initiatives and ESG reporting related to water management.

  • Adapt responsibilities as the facility progresses from construction to ongoing production.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • At least three years of wastewater treatment experience; semiconductor or advanced manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of biological, chemical, and physical treatment processes.

  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and automated monitoring tools.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Experience supporting design, construction, commissioning, or facility start-up preferred.

  • Professional Engineer license is a plus.

The position will initially support projects in Tempe and Peoria before transitioning to Peoria for factory operations. Candidates must be able to wear a respirator, lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work at elevation, enter confined spaces with appropriate PPE, and work in varying environmental conditions.
