Facilities Maintenance Technician
Solid Machines is looking for an experienced, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to support commercial fitness facilities throughout the Sacramento area.
This is a field-based maintenance position for someone who is comfortable troubleshooting and repairing a variety of building and facility issues. The work changes from day to day and may include doors, locks, plumbing fixtures, wall-mounted equipment, minor electrical issues, drywall repairs, hardware, general facility maintenance, and commercial fitness equipment.
Previous fitness equipment experience is not required. We can train the right person on the equipment side.
Our ideal candidate has professional hands-on experience in facilities maintenance, apartment maintenance, hotel maintenance, commercial building maintenance, appliance repair, construction/service, handyman work, or a similar repair-focused field.
Responsibilities
- Perform general commercial facility maintenance and repairs
- Troubleshoot and repair doors, locks, hinges, fixtures, hardware, drinking fountains, hand dryers, TVs, and similar facility equipment
- Perform minor non-licensed plumbing and electrical repairs
- Complete drywall patching, paint touch-ups, and minor non-structural repairs
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
- Learn to service and repair commercial fitness equipment
- Assist with recovery and wellness equipment such as hydro massage units, saunas, tanning equipment, cold plunge systems, and similar equipment
- Complete preventive maintenance and reactive service tickets
- Identify when a repair requires a specialized outside vendor
- Document work performed, photos, parts needed, and job status using a mobile service system
- Communicate professionally with facility managers and staff
- Maintain company tools, parts, and service vehicle
- Follow assigned schedules and complete service tickets consistently
Qualifications
- Previous professional hands-on facilities, building maintenance, apartment maintenance, hotel maintenance, commercial maintenance, appliance repair, construction/service, handyman, or similar repair experience is required
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Able to work independently after training
- Reliable attendance and consistent follow-through
- Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for service documentation
- Professional communication with customers and facility staff
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Able to perform the physical duties associated with commercial maintenance work
Experience with fitness equipment is helpful, but not required.
About the Position
This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys variety and problem-solving. You may repair a door one day, troubleshoot a water fixture the next, and work on a commercial treadmill or strength machine later in the week.
We are looking for someone who can look at a problem, think through it, and take ownership of getting it resolved properly.
