Join our Marine System Engineering department and play a key role in developing the next generation of test stand data acquisition systems. We are seeking a skilled Engineer Software 2 with deep LabVIEW programming expertise to design, implement, and sustain automated test software for production Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). In this role, you will work hands-on with NI PXI platforms, PLCs, and industrial communication protocols to support mission-critical testing across a variety of programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data acquisition software using LabVIEW for production FAT testing across multiple product lines and programs.
- Create and update user manuals, training materials, and technical documentation for test operators and engineering staff.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts by troubleshooting test software issues, optimizing performance, and incorporating analytical tools for automated report generation.
- Develop supporting tools for test preparation, post-data analysis, issue tracking, and test performance metrics.
- Generate statistical analysis reports and trend metrics to support data-driven decision making.
- Design and deliver training curriculum on LabVIEW programming standards, architectures, and best practices to mentor fellow engineers.
- Lead team initiatives in LabVIEW programming for test stand software, ensuring adherence to software development standards throughout the lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess hardware and software requirements for new or upgraded Data Acquisition System (DAS) architectures.
- Program Allen Bradley PLC ladder logic and integrate communication protocols including EtherNet/IP and Modbus.
- Provide ongoing software maintenance, support, and future development for existing test systems.
Basic Qualifications
- Proven experience developing test software using the LabVIEW programming language.
- NI LabVIEW Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) certification (active or ability to obtain).
- Familiarity with PLC ladder logic programming and industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus).
- Ability to work on-site in Sunnyvale, CA, and collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience developing test software using LabVIEW.
- NI LabVIEW Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) certification.
- Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLC ladder logic programming.
- Strong understanding of NI PXI platform and data acquisition hardware integration.
- Experience with automated report generation, statistical analysis, and test metrics trending.
