The Information Technology Technician is responsible for providing technical support and maintaining reliable, secure, and effective technology services throughout the organization. This position supports hospital operations by assisting employees with hardware, software, network connectivity, user access, cybersecurity practices, and healthcare technology systems.
The IT Technician serves as a key resource for clinical and administrative departments by ensuring technology issues are addressed promptly and professionally while supporting the organization’s commitment to quality patient care, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
The Information Technology Technician works in a healthcare setting supporting a variety of departments and users. The role requires professionalism, adaptability, strong communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively to technology needs that impact hospital operations and patient care.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide timely technical support and troubleshooting for hospital employees across clinical and non-clinical departments.
- Respond to help desk requests and resolve hardware, software, connectivity, and system-related issues.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, printers, mobile devices, phones, peripherals, and other technology equipment.
- Support user account management, access permissions, password resets, and technology onboarding/offboarding processes.
- Assist with maintenance and support of network infrastructure, servers, workstations, wireless systems, and other IT systems.
- Support electronic health record (EHR) applications and other healthcare information systems in coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with system updates, backups, security measures, and routine maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of hardware inventory, system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting resources.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives, including security awareness, access controls, vulnerability mitigation, and compliance requirements.
- Assist with maintaining HIPAA compliance and protecting confidential patient and organizational information.
- Provide training and guidance to staff regarding technology use and best practices.
- Collaborate with outside vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues and support system improvements.
- Participate in IT projects, upgrades, and organizational technology initiatives.
- Provide after-hours or on-call support as required.
- Adheres to department/hospital policies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking concepts, and common business applications.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems efficiently.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in information technology support, help desk, desktop support, or related field required.
- Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft certifications, or similar credentials.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and work throughout the hospital environment.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move computer equipment and related materials.
- Ability to respond to technology needs throughout the facility.
