Assistant Project Manager - Data Centers
Job Description
Under the guidance of the Regional VP of Construction or President, this role requires managing electrical or technology construction projects profitably by focusing on manpower, material, and financial aspects.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safety and quality control of projects.
- Direct team efforts to establish project budgets or cost estimates.
- Delegate tasks to Project Coordinator.
- Manage labor volume for field resources and assess resource needs.
- Establish and maintain project documentation and communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Draft and submit contract change proposals; manage contract and sub-contract changes.
- Collaborate with field workers, owners, general contractors, or design professionals to resolve issues.
- Submit product, material, and service data for customer approval and coordinate project site installations.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones, tracking them diligently.
- Coordinate material delivery to the construction site.
- Manage project financials, including partial and final billing with the Accounting department.
- Conduct project closeout and follow-up to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Develop business relationships essential for the company's success.
- Locate, evaluate, and develop leads into project opportunities; secure and manage customer accounts.
- Acquire resources and coordinate team efforts and third-party vendors to meet project specifications.
- Apply knowledge of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Job Productivity Assurance and Control (JPAC), and Short Interval Scheduling (SIS).
- Manipulate and extract data from project planning and tracking software.
- Understand or be willing to learn Agile Construction principles and commercial construction estimation.
Essential Skills
- 2-5 years of project experience in the mechanical or electrical construction market.
- Strong people management skills.
- Understanding of accounting and money management.
- Knowledge of electrical materials and their purchase cost.
- Experience with low voltage systems and technology.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact positively.
- Systemic organizational skills.
- Proficiency in computer skills including MS Office, especially Excel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Understanding or willingness to learn Agile Construction principles.
- Experience with commercial construction estimation.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Pleasant, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $55.00/hr.
