Aerotek is hiring a Maintenance Technician for a manufacturing facility located in Southaven, MS. This position is a 3rd shift contract to hire opportunity paying $30-$35/hr depending on experience. If interested and qualified please apply for immediate consideration.


Job Description

This Multi-craft Maintenance Technician role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment in a manufacturing environment. You will work with both mechanical and electrical systems to ensure equipment runs safely, efficiently, and reliably, performing preventive maintenance and responding to breakdowns as needed.


Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose basic mechanical issues involving components such as gears, bearings, and pumps.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on production and facility equipment to restore proper operation.
  • Conduct more in-depth mechanical and electrical troubleshooting based on your skill level and experience.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Support PLC-controlled equipment by assisting with basic PLC troubleshooting as appropriate.
  • Change filters and fluids on machinery and equipment according to maintenance schedules.
  • Identify and correctly use hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance-related equipment.
  • Work safely in a manufacturing environment, following all established procedures and guidelines.
  • Lift and move equipment or parts weighing 50 pounds or more as required for maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with production staff to understand equipment issues and prioritize repair activities.
  • Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status to relevant team members.


Essential Skills

  • Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience performing mechanical repair, including work on gears, bearings, pumps, and related components.
  • Ability to conduct preventive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills, including working with PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Ability to change out filters and fluids on machinery.
  • Ability to correctly identify and use maintenance tools.
  • Capability to lift 50+ pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
  • Schooling in maintenance plus at least 6+ months of maintenance experience, or 2–3+ years of maintenance experience without formal schooling.


Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with PLC control systems and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to diagnose issues efficiently.
  • Attention to detail when performing preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Willingness to work on different shifts, including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift as needed.
