Job description: Maintenance Assistant
The maintenance assistant provides a variety of standard and unskilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of center grounds and facilities.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
1. Works closely with and follows the directions from the maintenance
director/supervisor.
2. Maintains the building and grounds in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
3. Maintains and repairs basic functions of the center as determined by the maintenance director/supervisor.
4. Takes care of the tools and equipment.
5. Makes minor repairs on handrails, windows, flooring walls, ceilings, beds, wheelchairs, geri-chairs, electrical equipment, sprinkling systems, generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms and extinguishers, changes filters on HVAC equipment, carries, lifts and stocks supplies. 6. Assumes supervisor's responsibilities in his/her absence.
7. Remains on call for emergencies seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.
8. Puts Customer Service First: Ensures that customers and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.
9. Performs other duties as requested.
Specific Educational Vocational Requirements:
1. High school degree or equivalent
2. Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.
3. Must have basic knowledge of wiring, plumbing and carpentry.
4. Ability to push, pull or lift weights up to 50 lbs.
5. Ability to crouch, squat or stand for extended periods.
Job Skills:
1. Good organizational skills.
2. Agile and in good physical health.
3. Ability to positively interact with personnel, customers, family members, visitors,
government agencies/personnel and the general public.
4. Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
Performance Related Duties:
1. Interact with customers, families, visitors, center, and Care Center Facility subsidiary personnel.
2. Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required.
