Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Security Systems Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience installing, servicing, and troubleshooting low-voltage security systems, access control, CCTV, and IP camera systems. The technician should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team at commercial and residential job sites using hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and cable testers.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, and troubleshoot access control and security systems.
- Install and wire electric door hardware, including electric door strikes, magnetic locks, maglocks, door contacts, and motion detectors.
- Install, mount, and configure security cameras, CCTV systems, and IP camera systems.
- Run, pull, and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, and other low-voltage cabling.
- Terminate and test RJ45 connectors and network wiring.
- Install access control devices, including card readers, request-to-exit devices, and related equipment.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of wiring, devices, power supplies, network switches, and network connections.
- Read wiring diagrams, equipment instructions, and basic system drawings.
- Test completed installations to ensure low-voltage systems are operating properly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and company vehicle.
- Properly document work completed at each job site.
- Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and other technicians.
- Follow company procedures and job-site safety requirements.
Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of experience working with security systems, access control, CCTV, IP cameras, or low-voltage systems.
- Hands-on experience installing electric locking hardware, door strikes, and maglocks.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting security cameras and commercial security system installations.
- Experience terminating and testing RJ45 connectors, network switches, basic networking, and network cabling.
- Strong knowledge of Cat5e and Cat6 cabling, alarm systems, and low-voltage wiring.
- Ability to use common hand tools, power tools, multimeters, cable testers, and other installation equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot security system, wiring, and hardware problems.
- Ability to work independently, manage time, and follow instructions.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail, quality of work, and professional reliability.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift equipment, use ladders, and perform physical installation work as required.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience with commercial access control systems and IP camera networks.
- Familiarity with network switches, router configurations, and basic IP networking.
- Background in electric locking hardware, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, and motion detectors.
- Experience with alarm system integration and commercial security installations.
